Bowfinger, a review by Dragonfire

How does Bobby Bowfinger ('Steve Martin'), Hollywood's least successful director, get Kit Ramsey ('Eddie Murphy'), Hollywood's biggest star, in his ultra low-budget film? Any way he can. With an ingenious scheme and the help of Kit's eager and nerdy brother Jiff, an ambitious and sexy wannabe ('Heather Graham') and an over-the-hill diva ('Christine Baranski'), Bowfinger sets out to trick Kit Ramsey into the performance of a lifetime. Enjoy the fun with Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin - together for the first time in the hit comedy 'BOWFINGER'.

My Thoughts

I really like this movie.  I saw it in the theater when it came out and I've watched this DVD several times since I got it.  I think the whole idea for the plot is very interesting and made for an entertaining movie.  All the things that Bowfinger kept coming up with to get scenes was very funny.  I thought that Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy were really good in the movie.  This is basically the only movie that I've seen Heather Graham in where she didn't irritate me at least a little bit.

I did post a review of this movie on Epinions if anyone wants to take a look.

Bullit, a review by Eric

Buillit

I have no idea what possessed me today but I actually felt like watching a movie from the late 60's or early 70's.  I don't know what it was competing with but it's no surprise to me that Bullit won the Oscar for best film editing.  As some of you know, I really dislike the dialogs in movies from that period and I was expecting Bullit to be the same but surprisingly it's the opposite.

The movie has many long scenes with nothing but the "normal" sounds, no dialog, no dramatic music, no scary sounds, just the sounds that you hear in real life.  This is particularly successful in the long car chase scene where you only hear the sounds of the cars.

There is also no unnecessary talking, people say what they have to say, no more, no less and when there's nothing that needs to be said they're just quiet and the viewer is allowed to enjoy it as if he/she was really present.  I actually felt more "involved" in that movie that with any of today's surround tricks that are supposed to make you feel like you're in the movie.

I really enjoyed Bullit and I give it a

My Thoughts:
This is a (very) short lived series that originally aired on The CW... the year that The CW was formed. Unfortunately for some reason they felt the need to cancel this series after airing only 3 episodes! I mean come on... how do you not give a series more of a chance then 3 episodes? The DVD set has the entire 9 episodes that was produced before the cancellation. It is a real shame that they didn't give it more of a chance... because IMHO... this is a very good series. I think it had an excellent chance of going on for at least a couple full seasons. I found myself so drawn into this series while watching it. At the end of each episode I couldn't wait to watch the next. My favorite episode in the series is There's No Place Like Home... in this episode the small town the family is hiding out in is hit by a tornado. Obviously with such a small amount of episodes this series does end with some unanswered questions. But it does answer the question of who it was that killed the woman Paul is accused of murdering. And I must say... wow! Great twist! Definitely didn't see it coming! Makes me even madder that the series didn't get the chance to continue!

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5
