Friday the 13th - Part 2, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Amy Steel John Furey Adrienne King Kirsten Baker Stuart Charno [Stu Charno] Warrington Gillette Plot: Just when you thought it was safe to go back to camp... here's even more heart-pounding terror. Five years after the horrible blood bath at Camp Crystal Lake, all that remains is the legend of Jason Voorhees and his demented mother, who had murdered seven camp counselors. At the nearby summer camp, the new counselors are unconcerned about the warnings to stay away from the infamous site. Carefree, the young people roam the area, not sensing the ominous lurking presence. One by one, they are attacked and brutally slaughtered. Suspense and screams abound in this compelling thriller. Extras: Scene Access Closed Captioned My Thoughts: The second movie in the series is a good one. This one Jason doesn't have his infamous hockey mask yet. Instead it is a burlap sack. I am enjoying this one just as much as the first... if not a hair better. These films seem to strike a good nostalgia cord for me. It seems that no movies brings back the '80s for me more then the Friday the 13th movies for some reason. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Count: Movie Count: 74 TV Ep. Count: 47 I Made It! (10/20) Other Count: 8 I Made It! Starring Patricia Wymer (The Babysitter), Dennis Christopher (Breaking Away) and Bruno Kirby (City Slickers). My Thoughts: I've decided to watch some of the movies stuck in my unwatch case for quite some time. This film is from the vol #4 of the BCI Drive-in cult classic that I got in february last year and is now OOP since BCI doesn't exist anymore. I can't say it's the best film ever made or the acting is great (but Bruno Kirby for his first film is quite good), but this film had some charm. It's a drive-in free for all... You got the girl just turned 18 who had an adventure with her teacher, the hippies talk (to be honest sometimes I had no idea what they were talking about), the pool fight, the graduation party, the biker gang, a little bit of innocent nudity, a great theme song and it's a cautionnary tales (hitchiking is dangerous). This film alone worth the price of the set and it's a good news after all the bad one included in the After Dark thriller set. The restoration job is surprisingly good for a budget release, in fact it's more than good since the print had no defect at all... Plot: Hideki Motosuwa is a poor country guy who just moved to the city to further his study. One day on his way home from work, he discovers a 'Persocom', a maiden-shaped robot laying in the dumpster, discarded and wrapped up in bandages. Chobits 1.01 Chii erwacht In the world of Chobits, PCs are now computers which are looking like people. When I first saw this series, I expected the premise to be more interesting. Even though it is a good anime. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on March 31st, 2011) |
