Urban Legends: Bloody Mary, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Urban Legends: Bloody Mary Movie Count: 69 TV Ep Count: 21 Time Started: 7am Plot: From the Director of Pet Sematary, the terrifying 'Urban Legend' trilogy comes full circle with 'URBAN LEGENDS: BLOODY MARY', delivering hair-raising scares in the tradition of 'The Grudge' and 'The Ring'. On a Homecoming Night dare, a trio of high-school friends chant an incantation, unleashing an evil spirit from the past with deadly consequences. That same night, the girls are abducted by a gang of high-school jocks. Once rescued, their tormentors receive their just desserts, dying one by one in a chain reaction of gruesome murders, each with a bizarre "Urban Legend" twist. Is it all just a high-school prank taken to grisly extremes - or has "Bloody Mary" returned from the grave to wreak her own vengeance? My Thoughts: This is only the second time I watched this one since I bought it. I like... even prefer this new format for the Urban Legends movies. In this one... the main focus of the story is of a single urban Legend... in this case obviously the Bloody Mary legend. I liked the first couple movies as well... but would love to see a whole series of Urban Legend movies based on a single legend... would enjoy seeing some based on legends such as The Hook Man and The Woman in White. Bloody Mary was done rather well in my opinion. I enjoyed it.... but I wouldn't go as far as the back if the box goes and compare the scares in this movie to those of 'The Grudge' and 'The Ring'. Like the first 2 movie the killings still are based on other urban legends. Over-all I would say this one is above average... but could have been better. Also a fun story about the difficulties of the transition from silent movies to talkies. Like in Moulin Rouge, all the songs are not original to this movie, but are taken from older musicals. I enjoyed all of these, except maybe the one towards the end, which is too much of a showstopper and it just doesn't fit with the rest of the movie. I guess this is on purpose as the characters themselves planned this one for their talkie which is set in the past but has this modern number in it.Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on August 9th, 2010) "Stargate SG-1" Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaDisc 2 Icon Synopsis: After a world war that was implicitly caused by SG1's arrival on the planet, Daniel is stuck there. A religious leader has overcome his goverment and has the Stargate under his control. With the help of the soldiers of the old administration and some SG teams he tries to regain control over the situation. My Opinion: This episode failed to give the feeling that you are in a post world war situation. This is mostly due to the fact that we didn't see much of the planet and what we saw was undamaged. Avatar Synopsis: Teal'c is testing a new machine that embeddes the consciousness into a virtual reality. But the program adapts itself and makes winning harder for Teal'c - until he wins no more. Unfortunately Teal'c can only leave after a having completed the scenario. Teal'c is trapped and he could very well die in real life.My Opinion: Great episode. The First Person Shooter feeling was much better than in the movie Doom. I really liked the scenes when they showed the surveillance monitors in which Teal'c was seen as game character. The way Teal'c ran through the corridors also looked as if he was a player avatar and not a real person. But they should have given Daniel the god mode cheat. Affinity Synopsis: Teal'c has moved into his first appartment outside the base. But he has problems to adapt to the lives of "normal" people. However, his neighbours like him, especially the good looking woman next door. But she has also problems of her own.My Opinion: I also would like to have "T" as a neighbour. If I hadn't read Erica Durance's (Lois Lane in Smallville) name in the intro, I am not sure I would have recognized her. I had the feeling she was much more natural here, in Smallville she seems to be much more factitious and - alarmingly - old. I liked the episode, yet I found it unrealistic that Daniel has gone alone. Covenant Synopsis: The industrialist Alec Colson discloses that alien exists in a press conference. He even presents a living Asgard. He got this information because his company has helped to build the F-302 and has analysed a part of the Asgard DNA. But there are forces outside the SGC who also have no interest that the truth comes out.My Opinion: I liked this episode, too. Especially Carter's and Thor's attempts to cover it up with the help of the hologram technology. But the end felt a bit constructed with him having to leave Earth to avoid assassination.
