My Thoughts:
This one has been a bit of a drag to get through. The three love stories for the young characters lag a little more depth. Too many love stories in one movie which should have focused more on a single one. And it didn't help that the young actors were not actually all that good.
Also I think it would have benefited the movie, if they would have shown more flashbacks to the beginning of the relationship of Shahrukh Khan's and Aishwarya Rai's characters instead of having him constantly dance with her spirit. That approach worked well in Veer-Zara and Ghanjini, and would probably also have worked here.
Also the turn of Amithabh Bachchan character from love-hating to encouraging love was too sudden. The whole movie he was shown as unwavering. But one speech close to the end of the movie later and suddenly he changes his complete mind on the matter.

Dark Shadows, a review by GSyren

Dark Shadows (5-051895-206256)

112 minutes | Aspect ratio 1.85:1 | Audio: English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, Czech Dolby Digital 5.1, Hungarian Dolby Digital 5.1, Polish Dolby Digital 5.1, Russian Dolby Digital 5.1, Turkish Dolby Digital Dolby Surround, Other Dolby Digital 5.1
Directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley

My thoughts about Dark Shadows:
After hearing the news of Christopher Lee's passing I thought it would be a good idea to see if I had anything unwatched with Mr. Lee. I had  - of course - no major roles of his in my unwatched pile, but I did have a couple of films where he had small roles, so I chose Dark Shadows. As it turned out, his contribution to this film is hardly more than a cameo, but even so he makes a great impression.

As for the rest of the film, I thought it was OK, but certainly not one of Tim Burton's best films. I am not familiar with the long running TV series that this film is based on, so I have no opinion as to how well it emulates the style of the show. The script didn't impress me all that much, and much of the cast seemed wasted in their roles.

I'm not a big Depp fan, and I'm not quite sure how to evaluate his performance. I do like Michelle Pfeiffer, but I felt she was underused. And it felt like Victoria (Bella Heathcote) got lost in the script.

Still, the film had its moments, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
I rate this title

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

Kolchak: The Night Stalker

The Ripper
A serial killer who is terrorizing women continually avoids capture, and Kolchak comes to believe that the murderer is none other than the original Jack the Ripper.

My Thoughts:
When I popped on this pilot episode the first thing I did was check the running time. This is a good example of how much commercials take up today compared to the '70s when this show aired. This episode runs for almost 52 min. Today's series runs for about 42 min. That is a good 10min. extra of story they got back then!

This is an old series that I blind bought because I thought it sounded good. I bought it four years ago... and yet to watch it all. I have purposely took my time on this show since only 20 episodes exist. It is a series I found I enjoy quite a bit. And this is a good pilot episode. But it is not a favorite episode. It is a little on the slow side. But it does have a fairly interesting story.
