The Night Flier, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Night Flier Year: 1997 Director: Mark Pavia Rating: R Length: 96 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: English, French, Spanish Stars: Miguel Ferrer as Richard Dees Julie Entwisle as Katherine Blair Dan Monahan as Merton Morrison Michael H. Moss as Dwight Renfield John Bennes as Ezra Hannon Plot:Extras: Scene Access Trailers Production Notes My Thoughts: Stephen King's take on a vampire story. Being a vampire movie alone gives it a good chance I will enjoy it... and I definitely did. But it is definitely not the best vampire movie I ever seen. Like It did seem a bit weird... the idea of a vampire flying around in an airplane everywhere he goes. There was a couple things did I liked about this movie though... they way they made Dwight Renfield (the vampire) look... as well as the effect the vampire's blood had when he effected the Richard Dees with it. I really liked the use of Black and White in that scene. It really enhanced the spookiness of the scene. There is a couple small extras on this release... I would have liked to seen something more substantial though. This movie did have some decent bloody effects a well. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Vampires on February 5th, 2010) A Christmas Carol, a review by Tom

My Thoughts: At first I thought it a little strange to see Patrick Stewart as Scrooge. He seems a little young for the role. But he has ten years in a one-man Christmas Carol show under his belt and he did a good job. That he can do crumpy, I always believed. Look at his early interpretation of Captain Picard.Compared to the other adaptions I have seen, Scrooge seemed a little restrained at the end when loosened up. Stars: Christina Applegate as Samantha Newly Jean Smart as Regina Newly Jennifer Esposito as Andrea Belladonna Kevin Dunn as Howard Melissa McCarthy as Dena Barry Watson as Todd Tim Russ as Frank Cybill Shepherd as Paula Drake Extras:
My Thoughts: This completes this series. It isn't a bad series.. I did enjoy it. But at the same time I am not surprised it got canceled as quickly as it did. There is far better sitcoms out there. The finale does a fairly good job at closing the series out... but at the same time it does set up a 3rd season... in case it got one. The way they put the episodes on the discs is a bit confusing. Instead of running the episodes as they aired... 1 through 20... they for some reason pulled 3 episodes out of the middle of the season. Numbered the rest 1 through 17... and then put the three they pulled under it's own menu option entitled "More Sam." No idea why they did this.... makes no sense to me what so ever. There is some decent (though all very short) extras added to the set as well.My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on June 20th, 2012) |
