Hostel, a review by addicted2dvd

Hostel
Presented by Quentin Tarantino ('Kill Bill, Vols. 1 & 2') and written and directed by Eli Roth ('Cabin Fever'), HOSTEL is a shocking and relentless film about two Americans (Jay Hernandez of 'Friday Night Lights' and Derek Richardson of 'Dumb and Dumberer') backpacking through Europe who find themselves lured in as victims of a murder-for-profit business.

My Thoughts:
The first thing I noticed about this movie is that when watching the first half an hour of the movie you can forget that you are even watching a horror movie. That first half an hour feels more like a movie about college buddies backpacking it through Europe. But then when they get to this one particular Hostel... that is where all the fun begins. Then the horror hits pretty good. This is not much of a movie for scares... it is more of a shock value type horror... with a generous amount of gore. Though I will admit that I remembered it to be a bit gorier from the first time I watched it. Over-all... while it is not the best horror movie I have seen lately. I did enjoy it quite a bit... and can see myself watching it again.

My Thoughts:
I got this film in a 8 movie set called "Haunted Hollows." This is one of those "found Tape" type horror movies like Blair Witch Project or Paranormal Activity. I always enjoyed this type of film. When I started watching this one I got a little concerned as it starts off so slow and boring I didn't know if I would make it through the entire movie. Plus I found I just didn't care about any of the characters. But then at about the half way point it started having some good scenes... pulling my attention in. There was still several slow scenes as well. I thought I was about to dose off a couple times. But the good scenes helped me make it through the entire film. Over-all not a terribly bad movie... but I have seen several of it's type that were better. No big deal if you miss this one... but if like me, you got this one in a box set of films... you may want to give it a try. Just don't go into it expecting too much.

"Big Bang Theory" Marathon, a review by Achim

11. The Pancake Batter Anomaly
12. The Jersualem Duality

These two were the funniest episodes yet! I couldn't stop laughing. I would have hoped 12. to end differently (this was predictable and being the target of the other three guys not surprising at all) but the jokes were excellent. Sheldon as a helpless sick pulp whining for help and his idea to transfer Jerusalem to Mexico were pure gold ("If you build it they will come." :hysterical:)
