A Very Brady Christmas, a review by addicted2dvd

A Very Brady Christmas
Mike and Carol Brady decide to spend their savings on bringing their kids and relatives in for the holidays, but the kids are having their own problems: Greg (now a doctor) has to make the trip alone since his wife Nora is spending the holidays with her family; Peter is embarrassed to bring his girlfriend home since she is his boss; Bobby is hiding the fact that he dropped out of business grad school to race cars; Marcia's husband, Wally, has been laid off from his job at Tyler Toys; Jan and stuffy husband Phillip are separating; and Cindy is tired of the fact that mom and dad can't respect her as a grown woman. Just another day in the life of the Bradys.

My Thoughts:
I wasn't sure I was quite ready for this reunion movie... especially with it being so far out of season. But when Brittany found out I was doing reunion movies for this weekend's marathon... she really wanted to watch the Brady Bunch ones with me. So we decide to go ahead and do it. As I have said while watching the complete series set... I personally always enjoyed the reunion movies more then the series itself. I can say I have a new appreciation for the series... as I enjoyed it more then I thought I would when I watched it again... but think I still prefer the reunion movies. Some reason I really enjoy seeing the Brady kids all grown up. But I do believe this is the last time I will watch this particular reunion movie till the Holiday season comes!

Juno, a review by DJ Doena

Ellen Page    ...    Juno MacGuff
Michael Cera   ...    Paulie Bleeker
Jennifer Garner   ...    Vanessa Loring
Jason Bateman   ...    Mark Loring
Allison Janney   ...    Brenda 'Bren' MacGuff
J.K. Simmons   ...    Mac MacGuff
Olivia Thirlby   ...    Leah

Synopsis: Juno is 16 and pregnant. And although she thinks about an abortion she decides against it. But she also doesn't want to keep the baby. Thus she's looking for adoptive parents who will take her child after it is born. And she finds the seemingly perfect couple. But there are still a few months left until the birth and some things aren't meant to be.

My Opinion: This was a blind buy for me after it got good critics. Ellen Page played the role wunderfully. But I have to say one thing: Although I would love to have children, I wouldn't have wanted one with Vanessa either. She felt to overwhelming to me. Her entire world did spin around that baby and I'm not sure I could have borne that weight. And in my opinion Michael Cera's role could have been a bit bigger, it's his child after all and he loves Juno. All in all an interesting movie but another one that one has to be in the mood for.
One additional remark: Juno says she's named after Zeus's wife. But Zeus' wife is Hera. Only in the roman mythology they are called Jupiter and Juno. But then again, Zeus's son is not Hercules, but Heracles and no one ever cared. ;)

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Marathon , a review by Critter

Never Kill a Boy on the First Date

Plot: Buffy's love life is looking up when she goes on a date with the normal Owen, but when Owen nearly gets killed during Buffy's battle to save Giles and the others from the Master's vampires, she decides that "normal" dating might be too dangerous after all.

My Thoughts: I thought this was a great episode, it worked very well to enhance the story of the 'Master' that has been lurking behind most of the episodes of this season, but also managed to include a story that was at times, very funny. The introduction of Owen was done well, he was a great character and it was almost a shame to see him go. This episode is really the first in what will be many episodes dealing with Buffy's issues balancing her slayer life with dating and I thought they did it well. The whole episode left me very intruiged of what will happen with the 'Master' in coming episodes.

Rating: 4/5
