The Great Silence, a review by AntaresThe Great Silence (1968) 62/100 - After I finished watching this film, I went online to see what others thought of it. I was perplexed as to why praise is heaped upon this film. Sure, the setting is unique, but all I kept thinking was how much different and better it would have been if Sergio Leone had been at the helm. I did like the bleakness that purveys the screenplay, but some of the camera work is pretty shoddy. And I can't believe I'm about to write this, but Morricone's score is pretty banal. I really think I'm done with Spaghetti westerns, it's all downhill after Leone. Teal = Masterpiece Dark Green = Classic or someday will be Lime Green = A good, entertaining film Orange = Average Red = Cinemuck Brown = The color of crap, which this film is (From Antares' Short Summations on July 11th, 2020) Young Frankenstein, a review by addicted2dvd

My Thoughts: I always found this to be a fun movie... it is just hilarious. So many parts I could talk about that stands out as a good laugh. I especially liked the part that Gene Hackman played the blind man and had the monster over lighting his finger on fire. Even as much fun as it is there were a couple slow parts for me... and while it was still kinda funny... I didn't care for the musical number. I know... you are shocked that I wouldn't like that part! I did like the choice that they made when they decided on making this movie in black and white.. I thought it was a nice touch since they are paying homage to the classic horror. In my honest opinion this is Gene Wilder's best work... as I usually find him hit and miss. But it was Marty Feldman as Igor that stole the show. He was my favorite character in the movie. If by chance you never seen this film... it is one I highly recommend. Plot: Chuck is back and he's the Chuck you know: the hapless Nerd Herder hopelessly devoted to sexy super spy Sarah. And he's the Chuck you don't know: a master martial artist whose brain is locked and loaded with the new Intersect 2.0. How the two Chucks clash, bash and (sometimes) cooperate makes this 5-disc, 19-Episode Complete Season 3 total, action packed fun. More new stuff: A dashing rival (Brandon Routh) joins the team, someone from Chucks Buy More life discovers his secret and Chuck learns the spy biz can turn the nicest guy dark and dangerous. "For the last two years, we've protected Chuck from the world" the General notes. "But now we have to protect the world from Chuck" Extras:
My Thoughts: "Chuck" is a strange kind of series to me. I am not that driven to watch the next season. I usually wait for the price to drop, and even when I have bought it, it takes awhile before I come around watching it. But when I put the first disc in, I cannot stop watching it. I have watched now the complete third season in three days. For me the quality stayed a constant high. (click to show/hide) Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on January 8th, 2011) |
