Zoom: Academy for Superheroes, a review by addicted2dvd

Zoom: Academy for Superheroes
Buckle up and prepare for a ride that's out of this world! When Earth is threatened with imminent destruction, an out-of-shape, out-of-work and over-the-hill former superhero is called back into action to save the day.

That hero is Jack Sheppard a.k.a "Captain Zoom" (Tim Allen). The problem is he's lost all his powers. And now, it's up to General Larraby (Rip Torn) and Dr. Grant (Chevy Chase) to coax him into taking one more mission: train a ragtag bunch of kids with amazing superpowers of their own. With help from the brainy Marsha Holloway (Courteney Cox), they'll learn to work as a team and harness their powers to battle an evil menace who's determined to make one seriously huge mess of life as we know it.

TV Stars:
Tim Allen (Home Improvement)
Courtney Cox (Friends)

My Thoughts:
This morning my daughter wanted to watch a couple movies with me. So I told her to pick out something from her list for us to watch together. This is what she picked. I have read a few reviews of this movie... and every one of them basically said this movie sucked. I can't agree with that though. You do have to remember that this movie is more geared towards the family... especially with kids in mind... but it is a fun movie to watch. You just can't expect anything more from it then that. Just a fun... leave your brain at the door type superhero movie. If you expect anything more then that... yes you will be disappointed. But if you go in expecting nothing more then a good time with a handful of laughs I think you will enjoy it. Of course my daughter loved every minute of it.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Friday the 13th - Part V: A New Beginning, a review by RossRoy

Friday the 13th - Part V: A New Beginning

WHAT THEY SAY

MY THOUGHTS
Well the series is starting to feel a bit redundant here. It also reeks of studio involvement/director sellout. I mean, it's worse than an Agatha Christie novel! Always the same plot, just a different setting!

They did try to mix things up a bit, but boy did it fall flat on its face and I can't even think of a single reasoning how they thought, even for a mere second, that it would work and that fans would still like it! (well, I guess fans did like it enough.. after all, there's still 5 movies (6 if you count the Freddy crossover, 7 with the remake) to go!

I can pretty much sum up my feeling for this installment with a single onomatopoeia: meh!

Is it me who is different? I mean, you could do a "Friday the 13th" in 60 seconds very easily. Line up 10 teenagers, have them each say their name, then have random sex, because we all know you need boobs to sell a horror movie. Then have Jason kill each of them from behind, one after another, in rapid succession. Have the last person finally notice what's going on, pull a knife and drive it into Jason's head. Cut to mental institute, add quick dream sequence of imaginary Jason attacking. Voila! Friday the 13th in 60 seconds!

But then, that's me being a bit harsh. It did keep me entertained. It's just gotten to a point where the movie is just too predictable. But I give it points for having an actress who actually bears the name Voorhees: Debi Sue Voorhees who plays Tina. And she's incredibly beautiful! And we get to see her naked!

The X-Files: Season 1

4. Conduit

Guest Stars:

My Thoughts:
After an excellent episode we are back to the whole UFO thing.  Though it is a good story... I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as Squeeze. Though I must admit... I did like how they did the effects in this movie. I liked how they did the biker/bartender's mutilated ear.
