The Adult Version of Jekyll & Hide, a review by Jimmy

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: The Adult Version of Jekyll & Hide (1971)

Genre: Horror
Director: Lee Raymond
Rating: NR
Length: 1h31
Video: Full Frame
Audio: English
Subtitles: None

Stars:
Laurie Rose
Jane Tsentas
John Barnum
Jude Farese
Rene Bond

Plot:
When slimy stud Dr. Chris Leeder (Jack Buddliner) takes possession of Dr. Jekyll's ancient notebook, he quickly becomes obsessed with the murderous sex crimes of the original Mr. Hyde. Ignoring the notebook's warning that the Jekyll and Hyde formula "makes people appear as they really are," the demented doc mixes the potion and promptly turns into... "Miss Hide" (Jane Tsentas), a sexy blonde in a mini-skirt who just happens to be a homicidal nymphomaniac!

After enjoying a lesbian romp with Leeder's secretary (legendary skinflick starlet Rene Bond), and the sadistic slaughter of a drunken sailor (ouch!), Miss Hide decides to pay a visit to Leeder's fiancee (Jennifer Brooks) and permanently cancel the wedding...

My Thoughts:
OK nobody would call this film a works of taste, common even Dave Friedman who picked up the movie said it's a piece of crap. But it's a fine movie for what it is, a drive-in sexploitation shocker. To be honest I sure prefer to watch an adaptation of Stevenson where the doctor turns as a sex crazed woman than a monkey like creature. The film, even if the effects are basic, is quite violent: the scene where Linda York is killed sure is. John Barnum (using the Jack Buddliner alias here) isn't that much of an actor and he sure isn't a sex symbol (he is the kind of guy you don't want to see naked, but you will...). But you get some decent acting from an underused Laurie Rose, the lovelly Rene Bond and, of course, Jude Farese who will appear regulary on TV series some years later untill 2007.

Not great not bad, but it delivers what you expect.

Evidently the trailer isn't on Youtube and I won't bother posting it since it had male nudity in it.

Let Me In, a review by Jon

Let Me In
4 out of 5

What an infuriating film! It is born of the most cynical of ideas to capitalise on the success of a true modern classic; there is absolutely no excuse for remaking Let The Right One InThe Exorcist and The Omen. There is a huge difference between this and the recent run of remakes based on Asian films, like The Ring and The Eye. Let Me InCloverfieldSevenKick Ass to exploit her impressive range in a more sombre manner. And Kodi Smit-McPhee proves adept at another challenging and emotional role following The Road

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

9. Season's Greedings (12/4/94)
God Rest Ye, Greedy Gentlemen. A fired, embittered toy maker devises a sinister toy that turns Metropolis's generous citizens into childish, gasping gift-grubbers just in time for Christmas.

My Thoughts:
Now this is a very good Christmas episode. Not only does it have a fun story... I really laghed at the gang acting like greedy children. But there is a load of familiar faces in it as well. There is Dick Van Patten who runs the orphanage. Denise Richards as a love intrest for Jimmy. And of course Isabelle Sanford and & Sherman Hemsley as the toy maker and his assistant.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

10. Metallo (1/1/95)
Scientists turn Lucy Lane's new boyfriend, a loses with a rap sheet, into a cyborg criminal. This looks like a job for Superman - except the cyborg is powered by Kryptonite!

My Thoughts:
Hmmm... what did I think of Metallo? It was good... but not great. While entertaining it really was pretty average. If I am not mistaken... they got a different actress here to play Lios' sister Lucy in this episode.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

11. Chi of Steel (1/22/95)
Superman, master of martial arts.A mysterious Chi warrior steals Perry White's life savings, which leads Lois and Clark into a confrontation with a corporation that exploits Chinese immigrants.

My Thoughts:
Another good but not great episode. Pretty standard stuff. It was fun seeing a little martial arts thrown into the mix.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5
