2103: The Deadly Wake, a review by GSyren

2103 The Deadly Wake (750723-109626)
Canada 1997 | Released 2001-10-09 on DVD from Maverick Entertainment, York Entertainment
100 minutes | Aspect ratio 1.37:1 | Audio: English Dolby Digital 5.1

My thoughts about 2103 The Deadly Wake:
2103: The Deadly Wake is an awful choice, for the actor and for the viewer.

Malcolm McDowell isn't a bad actor either. He is, in fact, usually very good. And if there is a saving grace in this film, it is McDowell. But that is unfortunately far from enough to make the film palatable. It has an excruciatingly high WTF-count. That's the number of times you think to yourself "What the fuck?".

The script - if there even was one - is pretty much an incomprehensible mess. And most everything else is just as bad. Some call this film "So good it's bad." I beg to disagree. As far as I'm concerned it's just bad. No, strike that. It's not bad - it's awful!

It's actually not the worst film I have ever seen, and that's the only reason I'm not giving it just 1/2 star. But make no mistake about it, it's a very weak one star (on the verge of collapsing into a black hole).

(By the way, the image on the cover has absolutely nothing to do with the film.)
I rate this title

My Thoughts:
Before you start scratching your head... no... as far as I know this is not available on DVD yet. This is actually from a TV Recording I did myself. But I am hoping to see a DVD release of it before too long so I can junk this recording. After watching Still Small Voices this morning I wanted to watch something more with the always lovely Catherine Bell. And since I watched the first movie of this trilogy not that long ago I thought I would watch the sequels as well. I enjoyed this first sequel just as much as I did the original movie. It has enough sub-plots to keep the story moving and interesting... while limiting it just enough so that there isn't too much going on. I really enjoyed the main storyline of the guy trying to swindle Grey House from Cassie. Once again Catherine Bell was great as Cassie. The more I see her in the bigger fan I become.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 4: Disc 4

EPISODE 12: A NEW MAN
Feeling suddenly old and useless, Giles drowns his sorrows at a pub with an old friend and sorcerer Ethan Rayne and winds up with much more than just a simple hangover the next morning.

My Thoughts:
This one was another of the fun episodes for me. These single episode stories that are put in there for fun is what saved this season for me as I never cared much for "The Inititive" story line. Even though I always hated the character of Ethan Rayne... I was almost happy to see him in this season since it had little to do with the season long story line. If I am not mistaken... this is the last we see of him though.

EPISODE 13: THE I IN TEAM
As Spike tries to elude The Initiative's commandos, Buffy gets a look at the Initiative's underground complex and discovers she's not as welcome as she first thought.

My Thoughts:
It is an alright episode to me... since I don't care for the main story line.

EPISODE 14: GOODBYE IOWA
A death inside the Initiative tests Buffy and Riley's relationship, and reveals that there are sinister and deadly aspects of the organization that not even Riley knows about.

My Thoughts:
Once again.. an alright episode... they are setting up the ending of the main story line here in the last couple of episodes.

EPISODE 15: THIS YEAR'S GIRL
As Riley joins Buffy in the hunt for one of the Initiative's creations called Adam, Faith awakens to find she's been given one last gift from Mayor Wilkins.

My Thoughts:
This one perked me back up a bit! Faith is back! Now things are getting interesting again.
