The Seventh Seal, a review by Antares

The Seventh Seal (1957) 72/100 - This is my second viewing of this film and although I'm raising my rating a bit higher than the first time I watched it, I still can't understand all the praise this film receives. After my first viewing, I thought maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind or maybe my expectations were a bit too high. So this time, I decided to just let the film wash over me and see what I absorbed. Well, I really enjoyed the scenes with the Knight, Death, the Squire and to a certain extent, Jos, Mia and their child, but every other character seemed to be there just to fill out the running time. I also have to wonder if my disinterest lies in the fact that I attended Catholic schools in my youth for twelve years, and that pretty much turned me into an atheist. So theological philosophizing is something that's not going to get a rise out of me.

Teal = Masterpiece
Dark Green = Classic or someday will be
Lime Green = A good, entertaining film
Orange = Average
Red = Cinemuck
Brown = The color of crap, which this film is

Bringing out the dead, a review by Rich

16/11

Bringing out the dead

Ambulance driver Frank Pierce (Nicolas Cage) -- on the verge of a nervous breakdown -- stumbles through three sleepless nights on the job accompanied by a callous crew (John Goodman, Ving Rhames and Tom Sizemore). As Frank navigates through the dead and dying, he finds humanity in an unlikely friendship with a heart-attack victim's ex-junkie daughter (Patricia Arquette). The film, helmed by Martin Scorsese, is based on Joe Connelly's memoir.

This is the 2nd time I have tried to enjoy the film, but it just doesn't work for me. I come away after the film feeling down and grey, it is disturbing and in some ways bleak, low-lifes and victims in dark dangerous streets with unbalanced good guys. There is no relief throughout the film, despite Cage as the lead, and is definately not a feel-good movie.
However, enough interest remains to keep you watching until the end, as desperation grows for Cage as the dishevelled and grim paramedic. Kudos for the soundtrack which was probably the best part of the whole movie for me.

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

Monster Squad
Originally screend on Saturday mornings on NBC in the late 70's The show stars Fred Grandy (The Love Boat) as Walt, a criminology student working as a night watchman in a wax museum. To pass the time, Walt built a prototype "Crime Computer". When Walt plugged in his Crime Computer, the "oscillating vibrations" broght to life three legendary monsters. Dracula, The Werewolf and Frankenstein. These creatures hated and feared for centuries are now determined to make up for their past misdeeds by using their unique abilities to fight crime and bust super villians wherever they find them. Together they are the Monster Squad!

Monster Squad was a hugely popular Saturday morning kids action adventure series created by the same team that brought you the infamous 1960's Batman series. Now for the first time ever on DVD see all 13 episodes of this classic series now fully restored to it's former glory!

Queen Bee
The Queen Bee (Alice Ghostley) tries to make Dracula her mate...

My Thoughts:
This show I wouldn't expect any adult to get for themselves for any other reason then pure nostalgia. This is not what you would call interesting for an adult mind. I only got this set because I watched it as a kid. And let me tell you it is hard to watch as an adult. Sure there is a little nostalgia for me on watching it. But there is no way I could watch any more then 1 episode here and there.

My Raitng:
