My Thoughts:

Excellent film throughout including the ending which absolutely leaves you hanging although I believe that was intended. Still, it is one of the most gripping dramas I have watched in a long time.

Outstanding performance by Ed Harris, one of my all time favorite actors, in a surprising role of a priest, whom despite his own shaken faith, relentlessly champions a pious woman's petition to sainthood. Armin Mueller-Stahl is great as the arrogant Archbishop who, as it turns out, ends up having his own belief system rocked in a much different way.

I highly recommend this.

The fastest man on four wheels, Ricky Bobby (WILL FARRELL) is one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. A big, hairy American winning machine, Ricky has everything a dimwitted daredevil could want: a luxurious mansion, a smokin' hot wife (LESLIE BIBB) and all the fast food he can eat. But Ricky's turbo-charged lifestyle hits an unexpected speed bump when he's bested by flamboyant Euro-idiot Jean Girard (SACHA BARON COHEN, TV's "Da Ali G Show") and reduced to a fear-ridden wreck. Losing his wife and job to best bud and fellow fool, Cal Naughton, Jr. (JOHN C. REILLY), Ricky must kick some serious asphalt if he's to get his career back on the track, beat Girard and reclaim his fame and fortune. 'Cause as Ricky Bobby always says, IF YOU AIN'T FIRST, YOU'RE LAST!

My Thoughts:
A friend of the family been bugging me to watch this movie every since he found out that I got it. It is one of his favorite movies. He told me it is just plain hilarious... yes in a stupid sort of way... but hilarious all the same. Today I finally got tired of being asked about it so I popped it in. Now maybe he had my expectations up too high... but I didn't care for this one as much as he did. Sure it is a fun comedy in that stupid sort of way.... but it is not one I would call hilarious. Sure there was a few scenes I caught myself literally laughing out loud... but not all that many. But I did find it to be a fun movie over all. Maybe a little long for they type of movie it is. But it is one I found to be worth watching.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

Battlestar Galactica (2003)

What's the show about?
The Battlestar Galactica leads a group of refugee ships away from the destructed twelve colonies of Kobol to what they hope to find: the thirteenth colony, a planet called "Earth". They are hunted by the Cylons, a race of Robots that were once created by the Humans.

What happened before?
The new series is a re-imagination of the old one, not a continuation, therefore nothing "happened before". There are however many similarities between both shows but just as many differences.

"Battlestar Galactica"
The Battlestar Galactica is about to be decommissioned, it was commisioned during the last Cylon War. But then the unbelievable happens: after an armistice that lasted 40 years, the Cylons attack the colonial fleet and all the colonies. They have access to the colonial defense systems and are able to disable any resistance. After a great deal of the fleet is destroyed, the Galactica is the last remaining Battlestar and Adama becomes the head of the remaining forces. Meanwhile the secretary of eduction Laura Roslin is sworn into the office of the President of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. Adama plans to strike back, but President Roslin has another point of view...

My Opinion
Really great show and I hope we are going to see the 4th season (that's currently uncertain due to the WGA strike). I'd hate to see that show be left open-ended, especially because they promised to bring the story to an end in the 4th season.
