Diabolique, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Diabolique
Year: 1996
Director: Jeremiah Chechik
Rating: R
Length: 107 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, French: Dolby Digital 5.1
Subtitles: English, French, Spanish

Stars:
Sharon Stone as Nicole Horner
Isabelle Adjani as Mia Baran
Chazz Palminteri as Guy Baran
Kathy Bates as Shirley Vogel
Spalding Gray as Simon Veatch

Plot:
Two women, one plan. We'll poison the creep who treats us like dirt, they agree. We'll dump the body in a murky pool, and someone will find a surprise at the bottom. There's a surprise, all right. When the pool is drained and cleaned, no body is found.

Sharon Stone and Isabelle Adjani pour on the femme and the fatale in a diabolical grabber of a suspense thriller directed by Jeremiah Chechik (Benny and Joon) and based in part on the classic 1955 French spellbinder Les Diaboliques. Will the women get away with bloody murder? Has someone removed the body of the victim (Chazz Palminteri) and begun playing mind games with them? Add to the mix a tough cookie of a detective (Kathy Bates) and you've got the ingredients for "a nail-biter from the first scene to the last" (Bob Polunsky, KENS-TV/San Antonio).

My Thoughts:
This is one of the movies I got off our good friend Eric when he was selling off his movies. And I know I am going to get some flack for it... but once again I am watching a remake before the original. It is a good mystery thriller. I definitely enjoyed it. I am not familiar with this actress Isabelle Adjani... this is the only movie I have with her in it. But she is right good. I enjoyed her in it. Kathy Bates was pretty good in it as well... though I don't believe it is her best work. This is another one worth checking out.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Return of the Living Dead 3, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Return of the Living Dead 3
Year: 1993
Director: Brian Yuzna
Rating: R
Length: 97 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles: English, French, Spanish

Stars:
Kent McCord
James T. Callahan
Sarah Douglas
Melinda Clarke [Mindy Clarke]
Abigail Lenz
J. Trevor Edmond

Plot:
In "Return of the Living Dead Part II," the chemical Trioxin turned people into flesh eating zombies. Now the government is trying to control these unstoppable cannibalistic killers.

The splatter-fest starts when a young man uses the chemical to bring his girlfriend back to life. It's a state of the art special effects show as she starts a chain reaction of the living dead by eating the only thing that will nourish her... human brains.

Extras:
Scene Access
Audio Commentary
Feature Trailers
Bonus Trailers

My Thoughts:
This sequel is done with less comedy. At least with less intentional and obvious comedy. While I still like the first one better... this one is better then part 2. The way the character Julie (Mindy Clarke) mutilated herself is both wild and disturbing at the same time. Definitely worth a viewing.

My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

"Due South" marathon, a review by Rick

Manhunt

I liked Leslie Neilsen as Buck. I also liked the way the story told us some of Fraser's past and his upbringing. Even just having watched this series I am enjoying watching these episodes again. I'm glad I joined in.
