xyrano

I'm currently @ 1227 numbered items in DVDP (A movie as one and a season as one).
+ 8 more seasons on the way.

Now... back to the  :tv:  watching...

Thanks for the bump on this xyrano  :thundergod: I had to change from the 500 to 999 club to the 1000 to 1499 club since I recently crossed that threshold... (again  )

I'm now at 1031 dvd own. I count only the tv seasons as 1 dvd and all my boxset count as one dvd too. I think that I could reach 1150 at the end of the year (119 to buy, 17/month).

Honestly when I've bought my first dvd, I've never tought that I would became that crazy
But I like so many genre of film and I've discover so many great movies on dvd (my best discovery : Misty Bethoven, yes I know it's an adult movie but it's the greatest movie I've seen in my life ).

And every week something new pick my interest. Thanks to Dark Sky, Synapse, Code Red, Blue Underground,...

Touti

5 more and I'll join the 500 clubs counting the same as xyrano, I'd be there now if I hadn't sold a few :(

Since the thread came up again I also updated my vote from "500-999" to "1000-1499".

I moved from 2,000-2,499 to 2,500-2,999. Currently at 2,762 (TV sets = 1, Films within box sets are numbered but the box is not numbered).

Halo2

Hmmm.... When I initially posted on Apr 29th, I said I was at 1864 profiles. Don't remember exactly how I was counting then, but I haven't sold any DVDs (sacrilege) and I have continued buying at a modest rate. I've change my method of counting to giving numbers to stand-alone movies and box sets, but not numbering individual profiles within a box set whether it is a box of movies or a TV series. DVDPro says I have 2560 profiles, but my numbers only go to 1766.The difference must be that I had been not counting the box, but counting all the movies in the box. I've never numbered individual discs in a TV series. So, while it appears that I've lost ground over my original post, my burgeoning shelves bespeak otherwise. And there are another 10 titles I hope to pick up when I trek to the stores tomorrow. None of them are box sets or TV series, so I might make it to 1776, woo hoo!

I've recently changed my numbering behaviour.

Before this, those got a number:
- every movie (range 1-1000)
- every TV show season (range 1001-2000)
- every TV show special (range 1001-2000)
- every special interest DVD (range 2001-3000)

But I was never really satisfied because it equaled a 90 minutes movie to a 900 minutes TV season.

Now I've changed it to

- every movie (range 1-10,000)
- every TV show disc (range 10,001-20,000)
- every TV show special (range 10,001-20,000)
- every special interest DVD (range 20,001-30,000)

I have now exactly 600 movies, 1113 TV show discs (in 203 TV show seasons), 36 TV show specials and 13 special interest DVDs.

The fact that you're here is good enough for us.  :thundergod: We all started with only a few. Many of us have been collecting since DVDs first came out.

Be warned though, it is a sickness.

When I started a few years back I also couldn't imagine to own a thousand. I'd think that's a ridiculous amount and I'd never reach that. Well, I broke that number earlier this year and still have a long, long Wish List... Doesn't stop me buying either even if my stack of unwatched DVDs gets larger every time :-X

We all started with our first DVD. As long as you enjoy your collection you're doing just fine. No minimum quantity required to join this forum. And you are from far away too! Well, not that far from me, actually, but from most others. Welcome to the board!

Dragonfire

I'm up to 608 now.  I count the tv shows on DVD as one and I count each movie in the box sets but not the box sets themselves.
I started getting DVDs in 2001 I think.  I get most of mine on sale or once they are old enough to be marked way down.  I'm always digging through the cheap DVDs in Walmart.
