Some ISP's are really something.  It's been more than 24 hours since I moved the site and Jimmy's ISP has still not updated his DNS', even worse, they seem to be caching web pages or something.

This morning Jimmy said that a trace route pointed to this.

I didn't understand and thought he wasn't doing what I was asking him. I made him add dvdcollectorsonline.com with the correct IP address to his hosts file and now he connects to the new server but when he checks for new posts he ends up on the old site as shown on the page posted above.

Unbelievable.

Could it be a local browser cache problem?

I don't think so Karsten, I think it's definitely DNS issue because I had the same problem at work yesterday.  After adding the site to my hosts file and clearing the cache on IE and FF they both still connected to the old server.  I had to as our networkd admin to stop and restart our DNS services for them to update.

ping and tracert were both showing the new IP but apparently web browsers don't care much for the hosts file and just go to the DNS configured in your windows to resolve names.

I sent Jimmy a link to OpenDNS that shows how to change windows DNS', hopefully it's gonna fix his problem..........and if I were him I would move to a new ISP asap.

I'm back  :heat:
It was very very very long and without Eric I won't be here yet

Just one day and I've miss the place, but I was sure that it was not done (but after almost one day I was not so sure). Nobody was there and even the guess robot was absent too, It was a very reject feeling  :(

A very big thanks to Eric  and a big five points bonus for all the help this morning

I don't know if this could be caused from the move or what. But I noticed for the last day or so that I have not gotten any email notifications that there was replies to my threads... even though I do know there has been replies. Is this something that is because of the move? or is there a problem at all on this end... maybe a problem on my end? And yes I did check my spam folder.

Tom

I am getting notifications without problems.
