Actors you know as someone everybody else knows as someone else

There is this actor or actress and s/he's famous for this role in XYZ.

Except you never watched that. Or you only watched it years after you've come across the actor.


To me that fits on (at least) two actors who both originated in the horror genre (a genre that does not interest me at all).

The first one is Bruce Campbell. To pretty much all of his fans, he is the guy from the Evil Dead series. To me, he was first and foremost Brisco County, jr. and my recognition of him cemented when he became the master thief Autolycus on Hercules and Xena.


The second one played the decent Visitor Wilie on V. I vividly remember him running back into an accident site to rescue a Human co-worker from being turned into a liquid nitrogen popsicle. To everyone else, he's Freddy.

Hugh Laurie seems to be House for everyone else. For me he always will be George from the Blackadder series.

Jennifer Love Hewitt.... I discovered as Melinda in Ghost Whisperer... most others seem to know her from Party of Five.

Rachel Bilson... I discovered her in Hart of Dixie... most others seem to know her from The OC.

In both cases I found I liked both actresses and this caused me to go back and see their other shows.

I am sure there is others... but these are the two that pop into my mind.

Hugh Laurie seems to be House for everyone else. For me he always will be George from the Blackadder series.

Since I haven't watched either House or Blackadder, for me Hugh Laurie is Mr. Little from Stuart Little.

Same for me on Bruce Campbell and Willie on V. 

I've never seen House either. 

Katherine Heigel ..I've never seen Grey's Anatomy and have no desire to watch it.  Anyway, I think I first saw her in the one Child's Play movie..Bride of Chucky or something like that...it was the 4th one.  And she was in at least one movie on the Hallmark channel based on books that I read in junior high..Love Comes Softly..think she was in the second movie too.  I gave up on watching them because they changed..well..practically everything.  Oh wait..I think she was in the second Under Seige..the niece of Segall's character.  So maybe that was the first thing I saw her in.

Mayim Bialik, currently on The Big Bang Theory, but I still think of her as Blossom Russo.

For me she also always will be Blossom. And Johnny Gallecki will always be David from Roseanne.
