That's fantastic that she has a place to go!

My freshman year I house-sat for a friend.  My buddy brought some cranberry juice and vodka.  To this day I can't drink cranberry juice! And that's when I discovered that vodka makes me blackout.  Every single time.  I can drink whiskey all night, have a sip of vodka and not remember a thing the next day.  Anyway, I woke up the next day with dried blood caked in my hair and bruises & scratches all over my body.  Turns out my friend was a mean drunk.  Drug me down 2 flights of stone steps by my ankles.  Then threw me in a sunken tub (again, stone tiled) because I was bleeding.  And that's where I woke up.

Hopefully her first Thanksgiving away from home is... gentler.  

I'll be crossing my fingers for Christmas.  That was always such a nice break.

Were you bleeding before he drug you down the steps?

Hard to say.  Clearly I'd had too much to drink.  Fortunately, that was many years ago and I have a little more control now.

Good News!

Looks like there is a good chance Britt will be coming home for Thanksgiving after all!

When Britt tells me she got the money that her grandmother sent her... and she bought the ticket. As of right now the money is in the mail on the way to her.

One thing that fascinates me about the US, one of the most modern countries on this planet. And yet "the check is in the mail"?!?

From her grandmother... she is far from tech savy... she already had it in the mail when I could have done it so much easier for her. For example.. she sent that days ago and still not arrived. But yet I went earlier today and sent her $30... she already got mine.

I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. Brittany couldn't get everything done in time. So she will not be coming home for Thanksgiving. She will be staying on campus. So needless to say I am feeling right down at today.

Too bad she doesn't know someone who lives in the same town that she could get a ride home with.

I'm so excited!...

I found out for sure yesterday evening that I will be getting to see Brittany next month! She decided she wanted to come here and spend Spring Break with her father! This will be the first time I will see her since dropping her off at Hollins oh so many months ago!

She is coming the last week of next month... so I do still have a bit of a wait. Needless to say I can't wait to see her. But not only that I can't wait for her to see me... think she may be surprised. I am a rather large man... but over the past several months I have dropped a bit of weight. While I am still a right big man there is a noticeable difference.   

Something tells me this month is going to go by so slowly!
