Likely, but if that is all it is then it seems a little uninspired. Anyway, I think I prefer your previous approach to this, that he was simply curious and wnated to find out more.

Then again... Maybe he didn't like being put down all the time (there is several mentions that he is not human and even that he doesn't have a soul), so maybe some revenge factors in as well...?[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Him wanting to learn more does fit with the character.  He'd spent much of the time during the journey there learning while everyone else was in stasis or whatever.  So it makes sense that he wanted to keep learning.  Maybe exploring all possible options to be able to do what Peter wanted.

I had forgotten about that.  David did seem a bit ...upset when some of them sort of put him in his place about him being a robot.  He looked particularly ....peeved when Charlie answered his question about why people made a robot like him with because we could...  I think it was right after that little exchange that David infected Charlie's drink.  I really need to see this again.  lol I could see a bit of revenge in there as well.  Maybe he was also learning emotions...the robots in the later movies are supposed to be able to feel emotions too aren't they?[/spoiler]
