I just got a memory of an old movie in my head and I can't place it. I don't even know if I liked it or what it was about.

But it started this way: Drunk guys attack his girlfriend. He rescues her and beats up the guys in the process. His lawyer advises him to plead guilty so he'll get off with a slap on his hands. But the court argues since he's a soldier and trained in use of deadly force he must be sent to prison for many years.

That's it.

I am quite positive I have seen this as well, but don't quite remember what it was too. Maybe it's Stallone in Lock Up? If I am wrong I am looking forward to the correct answer as well...

Yup. I just came to the same conclusion myself. And now I even know why that plot came to my mind: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=606760&PageNum=1&messageID=1782871#M1782871 ;)

But I didn't link it in the slightest until just now.

I have Con Air... and it has been so long since I watched it the plot didn't even vaguely sound familiar to me.  :bag:

Con Air, that's it! I knew I had seen that plot somewhere...

Dragonfire

It has been ages since I've seen Con Air..but I remembered that bit from the beginning and him getting a tougher sentence because of the military training.
