Fine enough actress I am sure... but really haven't watched enough of her stuff to have a real opinion. Of her's I have...

Titles in Bold are in my unwatched pile...

- The Aviator
- Babel
- Bandits
- The Gift
- Hot Fuzz
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- The Missing
- Notes on a Scandal
- The Talented Mr. Ripley

I did enjoy what I have seen though!

 Hysterical

You might as well strike Hot Fuzz off that list, Pete! Yes, technically, I have to agree, she is in it, but...

That's it! One single, very funny scene, but it barely counts as a cameo.  Tongue

She is reliably brilliant in most of her films though. I can't think of a bad one. Notes On A Scandal, which I see you do also have, Pete, is an acting highlight. Superb performance, same for Judi Dench opposite her. I also recently saw Blanchett in Hanna. Clever role for a very clever film...

She was wonderful in Notes on a Scandal.  The movie itself is rather..umm....well...a bit disturbing, but wonderful performances.

I like her.

She's my favorite actress.

I saw 15 of her movies and she gives a very good performance is most of them.

Code:
Robin Hood                        4.0
Benjamin Button                   3.5
Elizabeth - The Golden Age        4.5
Notes on a scandal                5.0
The Good German                   4.0
Babel                             3.5
Little Fish                       3.0
Aviator                           3.5 (Which is quite an achievement when facing Leonardo DiMoronno)
The Lord of the Rings             4.0
Missing                           3.5
Veronica Guerin                   5.0 (A very solid 5)
Heaven                            5.0
Charlotte Gray                    4.5
The Talented Mr. Ripley           4.0
Paradise Road                     4.5

Colleen West never liked the first light of day.

Strange, you've seen Elisabeth - The Golden Age, but not Elisabeth? And since she is your favorite actress, you should definitely add Oscar and Lucinda to that list someday.

I know, and I can offer no valid explanation.  It just happened that way.  I'm probably gonna get both on blu ray one day and run a short Elizabeth marathon.

Cracking actress IMO. She mixes up the type of movies she goes for and really gives at the very least, great performances. There are a few movies I own with her that I am yet to watch (Veronica Guerin, Charlotte Gray, Benjamin Button) but I am looking very forward to them.

At least for Benjamin Button you might want to keep expectations at check. It's technichly brilliant, but I was rather underwhelmed otherwise.

Very versatile actress who almost always gives a great performance. The only films that I didn't care for her in was The Aviator and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. But that could be due to the fact that the former was an awful biopic, and the latter is Wes Anderson at his worst.

Ah, I have a soft spot for Life Aquatic! Grows on you.  Grin

I'd forgotten she was in Button. I don't think she can give a bad performance and in that case, it was simply a thankless role in a horribly self-centred film. A dreadful story about dreadful people. Yuck !
