Sad stuff... Especially: even if the "iceberg" will be smaller than they suspect now, the fact this comes up lke this makes me assume there must be some truth in there.

Jimmy

Just in case someone would dismiss this as it is from FOX news...

Child sex abuse scandal rocks Hollywood
Molestation charges prompt demands for new child-labour laws in Tinseltown

Seriously does that sound disgusting only to my ears?

"This is news, which means it doesn't happen all the time," said an agent for a talent agency that specializes in child actors who requested anonymity. "I don't think it's the 50-percent-plus-one norm. I haven't been aware of any other incidents like this."

So it's ok and normal as long as no more than 50% of the children actors endure this... Pathetic

I admit, the link to Foxnews had me being a bit cautious, but is also why I said that such rumor would always  be based in reality somehow...

Any caser that happens is one case too many. Pedophelia is always wrong.

It's the reason why I did search a report from another more neutral source. I guess we will learn a lot more about that very soon.

BTW the casting agent arrested had said to the police that it was the 11 years old kids who wanted to have sex with him... :bash:

Now it became clear why most of the children actors had so much problem when they get older :(

Achim

In a way, the casting agent might be telling the truth, in that the kid came onto him. The kid may have thought that a sexual advancement may secure the role. Of course, in any eventuality, this does not excuse the abuse whatsoever, as the casting agent should have known better to refuse the potential request.

Well, to be fair, I don't think that "most" casting agents are pedos... I think there is also some child stars who can simply not cope with the fame. Then again, it may not be limited to casting agents :fingerchew:

I'm sure it isn't. Remember Victor Salva? he is a director. Some producers probably do it too, they are in for the old casting couch practice so it doesn't took a lot of imagination to see some of them using the kids this way. Corey Feldman talks of studio moguls they are more than casting agent...

It's not just Hollywood - it seems that I'm constantly hearing about the sexual abuse of children.

The first I remember hearing about children being sexually assaulted was the Catholic Church scandal.

Now it's in the sports field with Penn State's Jerry Sandusky and Syracuse's Bernie Fine.

What drives me crazy is that no one did anything to help these kids - allowing future children to be raped. People knew about this and did nothing.

In the Bernie Fine case, ESPN and a local paper had an audio tape of Fine's wife talking to one of her husband's victims. The tape was quite damning and Syracuse immediatly fired Fine once it was made public.

Why didn't ESPN or the other media contact police? How could Fine's wife let her husband get away with this? How could the man who saw Sandusky raping a boy in the shower appear with him later in photo ops? What is wrong with people?

The other thing that I find so outrageous is that there is a statute of limitations, 5 or 6 years I think, on these rapes. Keep a traumitized child quiet for a few years and one can get away with this heinous crime.

Rape is hard enough for adults to handle but a child? There future is forever changed. The child dies the day tje are abused, they become someone else. They are forever scarred.

I find this crime so abhorent I can not be rationale in discussing it. All I want to do is see the perpetrater castrated and thrown in jail. And, once there, I hope they get to experience exactly what they put these children through.

This.

Although I can't say what I'd actually like these [censored] to get for their crime, it would probably get me in trouble. Let's just say it would be ugly, and it would still not be enough IMO.

Just this week Graham James was again in the news here (for those who aren't familliar with this case he is the hockey coach in the WHL who did sexually abuse most of the young who played for his team. Sheldon Kenedy and Theoren Fleury being the most known) and a more than seventies years old guy was arrested in my city thanks to the german police.

A chance that we are present when my two nephews who are hockey players are in the team locker as we can't trust any strangers with kids... Life seemed so much easier when I was a child in the seventies.

These are pretty much my thoughts on the matter.

Mine too.
And the fact that people knew and didn't do squat to stop it.  I get the kids not talking about it..but the other people who found out in whatever way and then did nothing.  That horrible.

Unfortunately I think it only seemed that way. I guess at the time these things came to surface much less. :(
