After four years of struggling to get it off the ground, David Gordon Green's remake looks set to go, starting casting in September. Crime Scene Pictures, Memo Films, and First Sun have announced that they will join forces to produce and finance Surpiria, with Wild Bunch planning to sell international territories at Cannes this May and CAA handling domestic distribution rights.

Green:
QuoteIt's less about ballet and more of a story about the occult and a boarding school for girls in Germany. Scene for scene it's very similar. In terms of the aesthetic, I haven't really worked [it] out yet. I've just started to get my cinematographer and production designer to look at it, and I'm sure we're all going to bring our ideas to the table. I don't want to emulate him or rip him off, I don't want to do a shot for shot remake of it. But I do feel like it's a springboard to a lot of huge ideas, and a lot of artful, magnificent ideas. Things that aren't in the movie theaters in the genre right now.

Back from pre-development hell... guess it will return where it belongs very soon.

This is all I will say, this waste of time doesn't worth more of my time ::)

Shit. I like this guys comedies. Both Pineapple Express and Your Highness were underrated and had an odd charm, but... no. Just, no.

Am I guessing right that you haven't seen anything he made before Pinapple Express - you know, when he was actually good, even great? No offense meant, it's just one of those things that continues to irk me.
