...not very apparently! I was quite shocked today when a guy at work showed me this article: 5 Amazing Things Invented by Donald Duck (seriously)

:o

I'm not even kidding.

I have read the same article today. Although I never thought that Inception was original to begin with.

Taken in context, it's very original. The basic themes appear all the time in all sorts of sci-fi, of course, but much of the films value is in the fact such a plot got made at all on that scale. The real kicker from that article is how specific it is!

I remember reading about the Inception/Donald Duck thing last year, but the others are new to me.  :)

For me the manga/anime thing wasn't new, of course. The others were. The funniest I thought was the one, where someone tried to patent something but was told no because Donald Duck already did it

In the special features Nolan mentioned, he'd started to think about Inception 10 years ago, which would make it older than the comic. However, it almost seems to much to be coincidence, yet not entirely unheard of. I loved the last paragraph, where they said that he sure can't mention Donald Duck as his inspiration in the Oscar speech :hysterical:

I thought I had remembered hearing that Nolan had the idea for Inception at least 10 years ago.

If I would have copied an idea for a movie from a Donald Duck comic, I would have said this too.
