Elizabeth town is severely underrated IMO. I think it's a great film.

Under all circumstances avoid Bridget Jones, there's not enough alcohol in the universe to make this bearable.

Just to play Devil's Advocate and back up Kathy, Bridget Jones isn't my thing, but it is popular and well respected. If you like the Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill ilk, there's no reason why you wouldn't enjoy this.

Ghost Town is pretty good. I think you'll like that, Pete...

Funnily I like "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Notting Hill" and still dislike "Bridget Jones".
Mostly because of the completely perverted female role-model that gets transported here.

Thanks Jon... I been right curios about Ghost Town as I normally like most things with a supernatural twist to it.

I admit I been pretty curios about the Bridget Jones movies as well... but that is mainly because I have heard these movies mentioned quite a bit on other sites.

Dragonfire

I saw some of Ghosttown..it was ok.  I just wasn't in the mood to watch anything that day.

The Bridget Jones movies are ok...but not my favorites.  There is just something about Bridget that bothers me a bit...and I didn't like how she was called fat all the time when she really wasn't.  She just wasn't a walking toothpick, but evidently that translates into fat pig for the movie.

Not exactly a "Comedy", but I just finished "Letters to Juliet".

To be fair that's the irony of the story and I believe intact from the book. Viewers can identify with Bridget and think they're unattractive or agree with the characters that disregard her because she doesn't match the fantasy ideal.

Both are proved wrong, so ultimately it's more honest than other rom coms that subscribe to over perfect impossible people.

Dragonfire

I suppose..and the fact that she has some insecurities does make her a bit more believable.
From what I remember, Bridget doesn't really get to a point where she accepts herself how she is.  Losing weight isn't about getting healthier for her..it's all superficial.

Though maybe I forgot some things.

I'm not into romantic comedies, but one I do like is Heart and Souls.
