That remings me of the sketches in Big Train. Like this:

Tonight's episode was wonderful. Gloriously silly, looked like it was directed by Terry Gilliam and has a vein of existentialism running through. Strangely moving too and there's a sequence with a 'door key' that was sublime. It was genius and I loved it!
The exchanges between the Doctor and his Tardis in human form were fantastic! "Is my name 'sexy'?"... "Only when we're alone".  :hysterical:
Awesome episode. You're right about the Gilliam vibe - and wouldn't that be a dream team for running Doctor Who: Moffat, Gaiman & Gilliam?

Also:
Oh, biting is excellent! It's like kissing, only there's a winner!  :hysterical:

I haven't seen all of it yet - but it is on the DVR.  What I did see was wonderfully awesome.
The TARDIS in a human form? Brilliant.
All downwards again this week. Pretty much like last seasons two-parter The Hungry Earth, except with a little more creepy design instead of silly looking aliens. Nothing much beyond the most obvious, both in exploring the idea and presenting the cliffhanger. Although last year's second part had a most shocking ending which had little to do with the episode itself, so maybe there is some hope for next week.

Yeah, I was underwhelmed as well. Especially because they rehashed the old idea "They are our enemies because we don't like them for no real reason" again. Seriously, that conflict was started by the woman (Miranda?) because of what exactly?

I just caught up with last weeks episode and I don't get this. I really enjoyed it. It's exactly what old school Doctor Who is supposed to be, with daft plots and scary monsters. The reasons for the conflict were very clear and fundamental.

The second part was amazing! I'd already guessed
that the Doctors had switched
, but
"she hasn't been here for a very long time"
was  :o

So clever that this was typical, throwaway Who, but turns out to be part of the main arc as well. I hate it when an episode of any series awkwardly tacks on an ending to convince us they haven't forgotten the big picture, but basically, this two parter amounted to just so much exposition for the main story! Great fun. The only downside is they have introduced a
get out of jail free card. Within the Who universe (Whoniverse?) advanced Gangers exist meaning there is the possible solution for the Doctor's death at the lake. I do like how Amy blabbed about that though, so he knows now. Still, he had to at some point because he contrived for them to see him get killed...
Exactly like? Haven't seen the second part yet.

No, the Hungry Earth two parter and other episodes in the last series didn't fundamentally contribute to the overall arc except for random characters giving the Doctor clues or he finds the crack getting wider. In fact, wasn't The Hungry Earth the one where he finds a shard of the Tardis? In tonight's episode, the whole premise of the story was about introducing a contrivance into the series plot to support the big reveal at the end and possibly give a clue to how it will all be resolved.

You got a new episode this week?  There isn't one here until next week.  I guess because of Memorial Day weekend.

The second part was much better than the first. I didn't guess your first spoiler because I took the early clue at face value, not realizing that the episode moved into "Moffat mode" again. And I didn't guess your second spoiler either because I was thinking about how Rory fit with the idea of the episode and for that other thing we always got the same two shots more or less repeated in every episode so far (the diagnostic reading and the eyepatch woman) that I stopped expecting a follow-up anytime soon. As for the third spoiler: that conclusion hopefully is too obvious as well and I would be disappointed if Moffat hasn't an ace up his sleeve.

One episode to go before the three month break. Was there any explanation why they are taking the hiatus this year?

Ze Amerikans.

This is the first season where the show is aired in the UK and the US at the same time, so they decided to follow their patterns. So we see the beginning at the end of the season and the end at the beginning of the next.

I'm sorry, but the second episode didn't really convince me either. The gangers were all over the place. They were sentimental and psychotic at the same time. And I still don't see a somewhat understandable reason why they started fighting in the first place.

About the sacrifice at the end:
Except for the concept of "in the end there must only be one copy of each" there was really no point in having Ganger-Doctor and Ganger-Miranda staying behind. As we know the TARDIS doors are nigh unbreachable and they had enought time to argue and kiss on the head between attacks on the door.
Now the big question is
where did Ganger-Amy come from and why was it right to disintegrate her? Didn't we just spend two rather uninteresting episodes proving that Ganger are people, too?
It isn't normal for shows to take a huge break during seasons over here though.  It has been done a few times, mostly just in the last few years, but it still isn't normal.  Missing a week or two every so often maybe, but not 3 months.  Doing that was blamed at least one show doing worse in ratings.  Can't think of which one though.

DJ Doena

V went on hiatus for 3 months.

Or Burn Notice who has been sleeping between Sep and Jan since season 2.

The last season of Smallville had a 6 week break between Scion and Kent.
