So would this hook up directly to the network?

I  can share the eSATA drive on my home network so that my wife can use it from her laptop.  What's the advantage of a NAS?  My German isn't good enough to be able to decipher what it says on that site??

I use a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo and it's awesome. Very configurable, does everything from streaming media to hosting websites.

Hal, just Google "NAS" or "Network Attached Storage". In a nutshell, it's a storage device that is visible to all your network devices. A typical use is backups and media streaming; I have all my music on mine and it can be played by a network media player I have. I can also store data on it I want to be available externally, over the Internet.
