Could be your cache, Karsten. Google had a big update the other day, but I know a lot of people haven't seen it. Try another browser if you have one, just to test.

Nope, still not working. I cleared out all my cookies, temporary internet files and the cache and I still see the new layout. Even though I have the original layout set in my preferences.

Same for me after I return later... They really want us to see that ugly layout who takes forever to load with a phone conection :voodoo:

I don't like the new one either.  It doesn't bother me so much on the main page, but on the movie pages it is bad.  And the actor pages I hate even more now.
Sometimes I get the old layout and sometimes I get the new one.  I'll see if I can switch my preferences or whatever and what that does.

The new layout is absolutely terrible.  :redcard:

Luckily it only affects the main page for a movie. And it can be turned off (well, sortof) via site preferences if you check Display full credits (title pages). The option Title display default only switches between the languages (original/English title).

EDIT1: But the fix doesn't work for the cast/crew main pages.  :(
EDIT2: But Display acting credits sorted by type (name pages) takes care of that.

I'll try those things now.  My first attempt didn't work.

See http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?redesignfaq for more details.

Why have you removed the left hand navigation links?

During user research, we found that many users were not discovering any of the links on the left-hand side of pages.

It's also more consistent with other pages on the site, such as the homepage, the photo gallery, and the video gallery.

This is clearly an attempt to dumb things down and present "multimedia" content instead of actual information. From the FAQ it also seems they want to push the new design into the other pages that are not yet affected. One can only hope there will be an immense backslash against this; it is probably the single worst idea in the history of IMDb.

I would like to find a feedback option there..I would certainly tell them how much I hate the redesign.  It looks horrible...just a huge mess.

Funny, on my computer I hadn't seen that new layout yet as well. Now quickly made the setting Matthias recommended, so hopefully I never will

I did see it on my iPad recently, so I figured it was a specialized mobile design, like Jon guessed.

I didn't see the new look for people until yesterday when I looked up director Baz Luhrmann (Australia, Moulin Rouge) and now I know what you're talking about!  I don't know if they'll let each individual choose the layout they prefer, though...  ::)

Under Site Prefs you can now activate a checkbox called "Show previous title and name page design (reference view)"   :yahoo:

Woohoo.  I just fixed mine.

Now if they would bring back all the amazon link to see if a film is available on dvd/vhs in place of only the local one (by exemple Amazon.ca for me) that would be perfect.
