I seemed to only be able to search in the US. I wasn't sure how to change the country to Australia .

..If you think that site is bad check out www.123people.com

I emailed them about getting removed and they said no :/

I wonder if they have the right to say that :hmmmm:

Although, I wonder if suing them is worth the effort. Froim what I can see they just about scrape the same stuff as the site mentioned by Kathy, just maybe more interantional (the other sie was rather US centric). 123people has my Facebook picture, they know I have a website, they found me on a friend's website and at 1SecondFilm. So what? Nothing you couldn't find out yourself within 5min.

I don't like the idea of that stuff being so easily found, but that last site says they take information from public record.  I'm not sure you can object to stuff that is in public record.

The only thing i disliked at the time was it had a link to a directory website which had the information of everyone in my house there full name, age and stuff... i think thats wrong... the facebook and other site things I don't care about... but I think directory stuff is disgusting

Sometimes I'm glad I have the same name as famous baseball player.  Searches on my name usually puts me on page 5000+ :)

When I enter my real name in Google, I can only find some 10 year old newsgroup postings. But the content cannot be read because I have alway set the "X-No-Archive"-Header.

The funny thing is searching for my name, either on Google or on any of those other data scraping sites, yield some other Sebastien from far away on the planet. So, it's pretty much as if I had the same name as a big name star ;)

Of course, it may have helped that I've rarely given my family name on a site where I felt it was too "public"

For my real name I get a Loyalist Paramilitary who lobbed a couple of hand grenades into a cemetary during the funeral of a member of the IRA and a guy who killed a mother and one of her daughters with a hammer.

I didn't like to say!

That site also found a posting I made on a newsgroup donkeys years ago. That was back when I had one email address for everything. I now have about 12! I use different addresses for different types of things. So my address on here is only used for forums and Facebook. My proper address is only used for normal emails. I have another for finance stuff, which isn't the same one for my online shopping. And so on.

I started doing it for anti-spam (when I get a bank email that arrives on my forum address, I know it isn't remotely real), but actually it makes dealing with stuff so much easier.

Well, spokeo.com just informed me that my half sister in California is a male!  :o
