Not sure how to filter cost for individual years using Marks Database Query, or my phpprofiler?

I've done it the old fashion way : with a pen and a paper

Not really

I've used the calculator in my computer to get the results. Just add the purchase date column to DVDP and add the purchase price one by one.

Just check the demo and like I've said this is the tv that is better not the media format. By the way the one with the music sheets is really exaggerated, the first one seems too blurry like the tv picture was not ajusted at all. I know that those new tv are better, I'm not again all the new technology (I don't watch my film on a 500 pound B/W TV cabinet ) I'm just not convinced that the blue ray format is that much better than the current media format.

???

No, it definitely is much better and it's not just the TV. Just pop round my house and I'll show you...  :P DVDs upscaled through the Blu-Ray player do look very very good indeed, but an actual Blu-Ray disc is another level entirely. I'm sorry, but I have to pull rank because I have it right in front of me and I'm not remotely impressionable.  :-X

Whether it's entirely necessary is another question. Certainly the leap from VHS to DVD was essential in comparison and this isn't. As I say, DVDs look very good and I won't be replacing endless titles. Anyone with a decent telly should be getting an upscaling DVD on HDMI at least and not worry about Blu-Ray.

As long as we've moved on from thinking it's like camcorder footage, then my work is done... :-[

Database Query should work.

I used my Access converter and then put some SQL queries into it.

For example: Number of bought DVDs, sum price and average price:

SELECT     COUNT(Id) AS [COUNT], SUM(PriceValue) AS [SUM], [Sum] / [Count] AS [AVG]
FROM         vPurchase
WHERE     ([Date] >= #1/1/2008#) AND ([Date] < #1/1/2009#) AND (PriceValue <> 0)

Tom

I used a similar SQL statement in CCViewer.

WHERE     ([Date] >= #1/1/2008#) AND ([Date] < #1/1/2009#) AND (PriceValue <> 0)

WHERE YEAR(Date)=2008 AND PriceValue <> 0
should also work, or is it of type string in your case?

Dragonfire

I got one more on 12/31 when I went to Walmart to get cat litter...I ended up in the DVD area.  I can't seem to go in that store without looking at the DVDs.  lol.  Anyway, I got the second season of In Living Color - it isn't showing up on my profiler page right now for whatever reason.

Kathy

I don't keep track of how many titles I bought or much I spend. I really don't want to know!

Dragonfire

I don't think I want to know either...at least on how much I've spent.     Maybe I'm in denial.

Statistics for 2009

I'm a bit early, but since I won't buy anything anymore through the remaining few days, I might as well get this over with. Plus, it might give you some ideas for additional stats besides the ones we did last year.

All amounts have been converted to EUR at the time of purchase and include S&H costs.

For those not so familiar with Euros, the current exchange rates are:
1 EUR = 1.44 USD, 1 EUR = 0.90 GBP, 1 EUR = 1.51 CAD, 1 EUR = 1.63 AUD

Looks interesting, Matthias. I am a bit scared to look into the monetary aspects of it :fingerchew:, although I may check out those other stats...

Dragonfire

As far as I can tell right now, I've gotten 248 titles on DVD this year.

addicted2dvd

I don't see myself getting any more this year either so....

Lots of free and very cheap DVDs helped me out a lot this year!

Since it's likely that I will still get one or two items before New Year's I have to wait.

But I am planning on: Items bought, Price paid. Both in total and split into Movies / TV Shows. Accumulated runtime. Purchase location (by country). First item, last item. Cheapest (excluding gifts), most expensive.
Karsten

Also for me the chances are, that I will still get one or more packages before the year is over. I will post my statistics on New Year's.

I have to say this is a scary thought! .... I think I would cry if I knew how much I spent.
