I was watching Turner Classic Movies last night and the film I watched was Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West. Prior to the film's beginning, they had an introduction by Martin Scorcese. Scorcese explain that this edition of the film was a brand new restoration and re-mastering, featuring more clarity, less grain and better coloring.

All I can say is this, I hope this new restoration is going to be released on DVD soon, because the film looked amazing! I was completely blown away by the colors I had never noticed before in its previous incarnations.

What did you have to tell me that for? Torture! :surrender:

Actually, that reminds me; the cover to the current edition is possibly my favourite and I keep a lookout for a poster version but I've never found one. Anyone seen one?

They probably did the restoration for a Blu-Ray release, and this is what could break down my resistance to buying a Blu-Ray player. It was amazing to watch the film last night.

They really want us to make the shift to Blue-ray... Even in my genre of films some greatness are supposed to be released on this format this year.

Of course this is a relative term since Water Power is one of the mentionned title (a director cut as confirmed sooner this year by Shaun Costello himself). Not that I'm sure that I really need to see more details but after years of poor quality bootlegs it will be hard to resist

Not even close! But thank you for the effort.  ;D

The closest I found was:

But it's these designs on the region 2 gate-fold cover I really want:

Did you scroll down that page I linked?

Clearly not! Sorry, that's what I get for browsing from my phone! :bag:

Sprechen sie Deutsch (Spiel Mir Das Lied Vom Tod)?

Or

In English from Evilbay

The first three scenes are some of the best stuff I have ever seen. Few words are spoken, a lot is told through the eyes shown full screen. I am still glad I had the chance to see this in a cinema once.
Henry Fonda gets to shoot a kid!
One of the three thugs: "I think we are short one horse."
Charles Bronson: " No, you brought two too many"

MUST HAVE Blu-ray. The DVD I own was pretty good, but at this point they can always improve something with a good remastering...

Najemikon

I remember my dad saying how shocked people were by Henry Fonda. He was always the good guy!

Thanks, Lovemunkey. These must be fairly recent prints because when I searched before I found everything but. Some real rare versions of various styles, but that cover came out of nowhere. Even the ones you and Anatares have found are clearly just the cover blown up. Who did this work originally?

I'm telling you, it's beyond amazing how well this latest restoration went. I couldn't take my eyes off the film, and I've seen this film close to 15 times.

:drooling:

Well, as you said, they probably didn't just make that transfer for TV, so I am looking forward to a related Blu-ray announcement rather sooner than later.
