I'm steadily catching up on old issues of the Judge Dredd Megazine. It's a sister comic to 2000ad that aims for a more adult audience. As such it backs up the strips with articles and a lot from the period I'm reading at the moment (2007-08) are by Alec Worley. He's come in for some heavy criticism (die hard Meg fans demanding to know why so much space is given to a movie reviewer, etc), but he knows his stuff, even if you might not quite agree.  Wink

He did a pretty good article about exploitation, in way of a review of a comprehensive book called "Nightmare USA" by Stephen Thrower.Amazon link

Anyway, I couldn't find it online, so I have gone to the extreme trouble Tease of scanning the two pages for you. They are hopefully attached to this post...

I almost got it when it was released, but the fact that my revenue decreased made this impossible. I know it's a great book since we had a lenghty discussion about it on the AVmaniacs forum with Stephen Thrower before and after the released. Of course I always want it and I will think about getting the book in september since I need no horror stuff for the next halloween marathon.

Thanks for the reminder Jon, now the book is in my amazon.uk wishlist (but I'm also interested in the Vanessa del Rio book and it cost 40 $CAN at Borders.ca, so I ain't sure yet).

No problem.  Thumb up !

The article isn't proving popular; 7 people have looked at page 1, but only 2 continued! Hysterical

I've downloaded the second page since view didn't work for me (no idea why but the image was small), so maybe I ain't not even one of those 2. BTW there are many great movie referenced in this little article, if you get a change try some of them you could be surprise by the quality of these films.

Jon this is the discussion we had about the books on the AVmaniacs forum if you want to check it (it's 12 pages of post, but Stephen Thrower participate). It runs from march 2007 to today.

Nightmare USA: The Untold Story of the Exploitation Independents" by Stephen Thrower
