According to DVD Profiler Batman the Animated Series started in 1992... and The Flash is from 1990... so it seems The Trickster came first.

or did they realise how good he would be after seeing him as a similar character here I wonder?

As far as I know, his role on "The Flash" was first. And I remember reading that this one helped him get the role of Joker.

The Flash Marathon

Image: The Flash tries to talk some sense into Tina

Episode 13 - Tina, Is that You?
Tina is The Flash's confindant and doctor. But when a biofeedback treatment she devised for him goes wrong, she transforms into something else: leader of a girl gang that wants to kill the superhero.

Guest Stars:
Richard Belzer as Joe Kline
Vito D'Ambrosio as Bellows
Biff Manard as Murphy
Yvette Nipar as Lisa March
John Santucci as Big Ed
Denise Dillard as Shauna Duke

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. For some reason it is always fun when a main character, one that is always on the side of good, goes bad.... even if it is just for an episode. While "Evil Tina" was right mean pretty much the whole time.... she was even hotter then she normally is.

The Flash Marathon

Image: Barry trying to be Mr. Mom

Episode 14 - Be My Baby
Catching bad guys is easy compared to this! Barry assists a woman fleeing her criminal husband and also copes with what amounts to a brave new world for bachelor Barry: carring for the woman's infant daughter.

Guest Stars:
Priscilla Pointer as Nora Allen
Vito D'Ambrosio as Bellows
Biff Manard as Murphy
Bryan Cranston as Philip Moses
Mike Genovese as Lt. Warren Garfield
Kimberly Neville as Stacy

My Thoughts:
Not a bad episode... but it was never a favorite of mine. This episode really has a quite a few slow spots in it. I did get a kick out of the kid calling Barry Flash at the end of the episode.

The Flash Marathon

Image: The Flash finds himself in a future he doesn't understand

Episode 15 - Fast Forward
An explosion caused by a missile The Flash tries to outrun sends him time-traveling into Central City of 10 years later. There, notorious villain Pike rules with an iron fist... and The Flash seems powerless.

Guest Stars:
Michael Nader as Nicholas Pike
Richard Belzer as Joe Kline
Vito D'Ambrosio as Bellows
Mike Genovese as Lt. Warren Garfield
Biff Manard as Murphy
Robert O'Reilly as Victor Kelso

My Thoughts:
This has always been one of my favorite episodes. I like the storyline. I liked Julio knowing Barry is The Flash (in the future). I always hoped it would turn that way for the series... but the show didn't last long enough to see that happen (if I remember right). And I also liked having a bit of an update on the pilot episode.

Sorry Tom! At least I only have 6 more episodes to watch and this one will be over. I was looking for something else to watch right now. But maybe I will try to finish this one off instead.

And I know what you mean... I have a ton I haven't watched yet... but sometimes I am just in the mood for my old favorites.

The same happens to me with movies currently. I still have a lot of unwatched movies, but the majority of movies I watch are the ones I have seen already at least once.

The Flash Marathon

Image: The Flash and Nightshade Team up once again to stop the Nightshade imposter

Episode 16 - Deadly Nightshade
He upholds the law - even if he has to kill everyone to do it. A wannabe posing as Nightshade is nothing more than a vigilante in disguise, and The Flash and the real Nightshade are allied in an effort to stop him.

Guest Stars:
Richard Belzer as Joe Kline
Jason Bernard as Desmond Powell
Richard Burgi as Curtis Bohannan
Denise Crosby as Rebecca Frost
Mike Genovene as Lt. Warren Garfield
Will MacMillan as Keefe

My Thoughts:
Another excellent episode that I enjoyed every minute of. This one was just as good... if not better then the first episode with the Nightshade. He and The Flash work good together. Having Denise Crosby guest starring in the episode is another plus.

The Flash Marathon

Image: A tricky reporter handcuffs herself to The Flash in attempt to get an exclusive.

Episode 17 - Captain Cold
The iceman cometh! A hit man who uses a freeze gun to put people and objects in deep cryo-cold takes on a new job: put The Flash on ice.

Guest Stars:
Vito D'Ambrosio as Bellows
Biff Manard as Murphy
Michael Champion as Captain Cold
Lisa Darr as Terri Kronenberg
Mike Genovese as Lt. Warren Garfield
Jeffrey Combs as Jimmy Swain

My Thoughts:
This is a good episode. The Flash gets his own "Mr. Freeze" character. The episode has a few chuckles and plenty of action.

Strangely enough, I don't remember this episode.  I guess I need to start watching the series again myself.  Captain Cold was actually a character in The Flash's comic books of the 1960s...and he may even predate Mr. Freeze.  I'm not sure if Mr. Freeze existed before his appearances in the Batman TV show.

Thanks for the background info Roger. Captain Cold in the episode is an albino guy that stole a freezing weapon and became a hitman using it.

Well, he definitely sounds different from the original Captain Cold in the comics...who just wore a parka with a furry collar...typical wintry-looking outfit.  And he had a pistol that shot out cold stuff...ice and whatever...it's been so long I can't recall specifics.  There was a counterpart to him in the comics called Heat Wave.  Didn't he show up in the TV show, too?

Her is Captain Cold from the show... maybe it will jog your memory...

I don't remember seeing anything about Heat Wave in the series at least.
