It's because after the 2 films directed by Tim Burton the franchise was over... So the last one was in 1992.

What two others films were made after Batman Returns
Never heard about that

I think the problem with them rebooting Spider-man right now are

when batman and Robin / Batman Forever were out everyone hated them, they welcomed the reboot, Most people think Spider-man was a great movie, Spider-man 2 was ok and 3 well... thats no good, but it seemed that things were going to improve with 4. most fans have only just welcomed the idea that 3 would have a sequel. and now thats been crushed so we have to think about a reboot which could be the Spidy version of Batman returns.

...plus, Nolan was a respected filmmaker with an obviously individual view of Bats. Raimi is a respected filmmaker, but they're moving away from him and they're clearly fasttracking a studio vision, rather than a director one. Plus, they have already announed a 2012 release...

Dragonfire

And Sony were the ones insisting on Venom being in the last movie..along with 2 other villains.

I just found another story about this...evidently Sony is going to go more gritty with the reboot.  Gritty and Spider-Man....I don't think I like this idea.... and heaven forbid, Michael Bay is mentioned as possibly directing.  That will send the movie quality straight to hell.

Anyway, here's the link to the story.

this is bad news... but maybe they will do a batman, we will have a good series, then one... then we get our Batman Begins version of Spidy... but more suited to Spider-mans tone

So I see Marc Webb has landed the job of directing the new Spiderman film.

Achim

While I don't really know who he is at least his name fits the hero

:hysterical:

Wow I never even thought about that. He is actually a fairly unknown director. Had has first big film last year with (500) Days of Summer but aside from that he seems to have done mainly music videos.

I was looking forward to that one, but seeing him associated with Spiderman somehow makes me less interested.  :hmmmm: On the other hand, Julie Taymor is doing the Spiderman musical, so maybe I shouldn't be so prejudiced.

 A Spider-man musical.... for some reason that sounds like a good idea!

If Julie Taymore is doing it then I'm definatly interested. She did Across The Universe didn't she?

She did. She also did Frida (about the painter Frida Kahlo) and Titus (Shakespeare). Both are more interesting than Across the Universe, although I liked that one as well. IIRC the Spiderman musical idea came from her work on AtU with that U2-guy (forgot his name). It's a Broadway thing, though. No idea if there will be a movie version. Taymor's current movie is The Tempest (Shakespeare again), which hopefully will come out this year.

Prepare yourself for a bad movie; badly edited, too fast, full of bad one liner, annoying music and full of moment where you won't understand what happen on the screen (or even see it)...

Nothing here to make me give another chance to this franchise...
