Supernatural: Season 1

EPISODE 7: Hook Man
In a quiet Iowa college town, a minister prays to protect his parishioners' children. But another minister - a two-centuries-old madman with a hook for a hand - wants them terrified, slashed and dead.

Guest Stars:
Dan Butler as Reverend Sorenson
Jane McGregor as Lori Sorenson
Brian Skala as Rich
Alfred E. Humphreys as Sheriff

My Thoughts:
Cool... another one from a familiar legend. I thought they did a good job with it. I especially liked how they still didn't beat this spirit even after burning and salting the bones... and the answer to what the forgot.

My Rating: [mr]4[/mr]

Supernatural: Season 1

EPISODE 8: Bugs
After a construction worker is killed by insects burrowing into his brain, the brothers investigate a town's history and find that a new housing development is being built on sacred indian land - with a curse attached.

Guest Stars:
Andrew Airlie as Larry Pike
Carrie Genzel as Lynda Bloome
Tyler Johnston as Matt White
Jim Byrnes as Anthropoloy Professor

My Thoughts:
This is another good episode. If you do not like bugs this one may make you squirm a bit. I know I personally could have went without that damn big spider the kid had! I liked the reason they came up with for the bugs to go nuts the way they did.

My Rating: [mr]4[/mr]

Season 1: Disc Two:
This completes disc two of the first season set. I really enjoyed all the episodes on this disc... but especially enjoyed what they did with Bloody Mary. Unfortunately this disc don't have much when it comes to extras... just a few deleted scenes.

Disc 1 Extras:
- Deleted Scenes:
---- Hook Man

I was waiting on you to get to Bugs.  That's my all time least favorite.  By a long shot.  The thing that bugs me most is
The set it up as a no one will survive scenario and need to get everyone out, but they are trapped.  They're fighting a loosing battle against the bugs and getting their asses kicked bad.  Then it's magically morning and everyone is fine.  There's no explanation as to how they survived the night.  It's just morning and all is well again.
I can't stand bugs.  But that's not why I hate the episode.  It's the ending.

Interesting that you like it.  I've never met anyone else who did.

addicted2dvd

I guess that didn't bother me because...
they set up how morning would end it... and there was no telling how late it already was when they went into the house.
Yes there was. When they arrive they specifically mention it's nearly midnight and about to start. So they had to survive at least 6 hours in there.
I must have missed that somehow... didn't hear them say it.

Yeah, they did mention that.  In fact, had they not specifically mentioned the time, I might have not had so many issues with it.  Of course it still had bugs.  Don't like bugs. :hysterical:

That is how I am with spiders... needless to say I didn't like that kid's pet tarantula!

Supernatural: Season 1

EPISODE 9: Home
After 22 years, Sam and Dean return to their childhood home. Now another beautiful young mother lives there - and, if Sam's nightmares are correct, she may be threatened by the same evil that killed Mary Winchester.

Guest Stars:
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester
Samantha Smith as Mary Winchester
Kristin Richardson as Jenny
Loretta Devine as Missouri Moseley

My Thoughts:
This one I enjoyed a lot. It's an obvious storyline for the show... having them go back home to where it all began. It is basically a story they had to tell. I really got a kick out of the psychic Missouri Moseley. And we finally meet Sam and Dean's father... even though they didn't know he was in town with them.

My Rating: [mr]5[/mr]

It is a shame I can't watch horror right now. I just read that today is Jared Padalecki's (Sam Winchester) 28th birthday.

OK... admit it... when you seen this thread get bumped up... who thought I messed up?  :tease:

Looks like it is time to bring this thread back to life. I just checked tomorrow's celebrity birthdays... and tomorrow is Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) 33rd birthday. Sounds like a perfect time to work on this marathon a bit.

Supernatural: Season 1

EPISODE 10: ASYLUM
If these walls could talk. The brothers investigate a long-shuttered mental asylum that has the power to drive intruders mad...and murderous.

Guest Stars:
Brooke Nevin as Kat
Nicholas D'Agosto as Gavin
Tom Pickett as Lt. Danny Gunderson
James Purcell as Dr. James Ellicott
Norman Armour as Dr. Sanford Ellicott

My Thoughts:
This one was an excellent episode. I enjoyed every minute of watching it. There is just something about the idea of a haunted asylum that just makes it creepier then the average haunted house movie.

My Rating: [mr]5[/mr]
