Remember watching a German TV series roundabout the 80's and after having a look around think it must be this one (IMDb) but looks like i remembered it to late, series 2 & 3 are available but looks like series 1 (which would be the one i watched) is OoP, anyone know if this is likely to get a UK re-release (or better still a Blu-ray)

As far as I know all three have been released in the UK by Tartan. The German releases by Kinowelt/Arthaus don't have any subtitles, thus might not be suitable. Don't know about availability, though.

The individual series (seasons) aren't exactly seasons of an ongoing series in a conventional sense. There are roughly 10 years between the making of each of them. Die zweite Heimat (AKA Heimat 2 AKA The Second Homeland) is IMHO one of the best TV series ever.

Oops. Didn't see that you already asked about a re-release. Maybe the US releases (Facets) are still available?

Thanks  for the reply goodguy, i have 2 and 3 in my Amazon wish list but didn't want to buy them without 1 which at the moment appears to be OoP

Heimat 1 & 2 will be (re)released in the UK by Second Sight Films on Jun 21.
