Are Seasons Getting Shorter?

And regards the season 4 set, I've heard the dvds will be missing disc 1, but the blu-ray will be complete...

Amazon UK lists 7 discs for season 4 which is already unusual high. But if the first 4 episodes are actually missing what's on all these discs?

If I remember right... I read over at tvshowsondvd.com that those season 4 episodes in the season 3 set will NOT be in the season 4 set. In one way this is understandable... but I would have preferred all the season 4 episodes together in the season 4 set.

Hmm..Ok.  I hadn't heard that..though I really haven't tried to research it yet either.
That is a bit annoying...I'd rather all the season 4 episodes be in one set.  I would have been fine with just the shorter season 3 in the set without the first few episodes of season 4. 
Maybe they are starting a new trend and the first couple episodes of season 5 will end up with season 4...not that I want that to happen.

The first season of Fringe has 20 episodes I think it is - I'll have to check the set again - and it is 7 discs.

No I wasn't! I can't explain the 7 discs, but I've read twice that the season 4 set will not include the first 3 episodes. Hopefully that's changed now.

So for the UK I don't know what the specs would be... but I would think (especially with that many discs) that all the episodes will be there. Did the season 3 set have the first 3 eps of season 4 in the UK?
