I keep hearing good comments about the original radio shows of this and remain intrigued. I recently found that iTunes has them for sale, about €12 per season (which there is 5 of), making the eventual purchase €60 Also, the entire series is 17 hours, quite a mammoth to listen to.

Any one here has actually heard them and can confirm that they are the genius they are supposed to be or to warn me before getting disappointed?

I own the original TV series, which I thought was good, and watched the movie from a few years ago, which I thought was decent but nothing to write home about.


Yes, I have thought about getting the first one first and then continue of I like it. But I occasionally am a completist and might just buy more regardless and then possibly never listen to them

I can't help you with the radio shows, sorry.

But I can reccomend the first four books. I felt that the fifth one was trying too hard.
The Dirk Gently books are also well worth a read.

I think I got stuck somewhere in the middle of either the third or the fourth book. Somehow still haven't been able to get myself to start again since then.

I got THIS close to ordering it once. Then somehow realized that I am more into visual media these days (heck, I am struggling to get on with Watchmen...), so I didn't.

One scene I remembered was when they tried to get a couch upstairs and then get stuck on the corner of the stairs. They can't go neither back nor forth and then prove mathematically that it was impossible to get this couch into this situation and also impossible to get it out again.
