Hi there, it's lazy guy again!

Situation: You just bought a new TV season and you are a disc profiler. You enter the EAN/UPC and find the box but no one has entered the child profiles yet.

So you insert all the discs in your drive, measure the runtime and add them to DVDP. And now comes the tedious part: You have to copy the genres, the regions, the CoO, the prod year, the studios, the aspect ratio, the audio tracks, the subtitles, .... from the parent profile into the childs.

But except for exceptions it's always the same as in the parent box. Surely there has to be a way to make that easier.

Now there is: the new plugin Initialize TV Show Child Profiles.

You have added the child profiles to the box, you select the box, you select the menu entry "Initialize TV Show Child Profiles" under the root menu "DVD" and copy&paste does its job.

I just use the new copy and paste function in DVD Profiler... you just copy the parent profile... flag all the children profiles then go to Collections --> Flagged --> Past... There you can check off all the sections you want to copy to all the child profiles.

Is there something I am missing that this plugin does that the copy and paste don't do?

I simply wasn't aware that such a functionality exists.

I go hide now.  :bag:

 That's ok Karsten.... it happens to the best of us!

Besides... at least you know it is a good idea... just happened to be one that Ken thought of as well.  :)

Don't worry Karsten... I won't say a word... I already seen it at the other site... and just let it be.  :P But I do wonder if anyone else will notice it. Maybe not since it is fairly new.

It is a new feature in 3.5 I believe.  So it's not like those options have been there for 5 years.  Hope I didn't embarrass you at the other site.  Like Pete, I thought there might have been something more to this than first appeared.

If it helps, I've done the same thing at work.  Spend a bunch of time on a project, show it to a co-worker and have him show me the same exact thing he'd already written.  Could happen to anyone. :hysterical:

Most of us do this at least once in our life.  I spent months laying down the concepts of an online system I thought of developping after searching the internet and not finding it.............until I mentioned it to my sister 3 weeks ago and she gives me 3 or 4 links of sites that do exactly what I thought I had just invented  :-[

Great plugin Karsten!

At least you got to flex your programming fingers :P
