I've collected a lot of things over the years, and typically with all these things I amassed the collections by sheer volume. It was a personal trait (character flaw?) of mine, which I managed to control a couple of years ago. Although I still buy a lot of dvds in comparison to 'normal people', it is nowhere near the ridiculous levels I used to buy at.
Theres probably a name for it, and a psychologist will probably link it to an underpriveleged upbringing etc, but the outcome is a lot of dvds etc!

I call it a character attribute...at least I hope so since I do the same thing!

Glad to see I'm not alone!  :hysterical:
When do we begin therapy? :-X

Well... This is it. The beginning of my last month without horror. In 30 days (counting today) I will be starting my Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon.

This year I must do my best to beat last year's totals:

Movies: 100
TV Eps: 45
Other:   2

I am confident when it comes to the TV Eps and Other... but Not so sure I can watch more then 100 movies also!  :-\

I am surprised... you guys been pretty easy on me this year!  :P

Is that the rule...that you have to beat each previous year's totals?  At 100 movies, this means you have to see close to 4 movies a day.  I'm not sure what TV episodes you'd watch...stuff like Angel and Buffy, I guess...maybe the spookier episodes of The Twilight Zone?  And what the heck were the two items that fell under the "Other" category?  Maybe a cartoon or two...like that big orange monster chasing after Bugs Bunny?

addicted2dvd

Not really a rule Roger... more of a goal.

As for TV Series episodes... What I do is...

- Halloween episode of any series (regardless of genre)
- Supernatural
- Buffy
- Angel
- Dracula: The Series
- Beyond Reality
- Eerie Indiana
- Goosebumps
- A Haunting
- Kingdom Hospital
- Kolchak: The Night Stalker
- The Night Stalker (remake series of Kolchak)
- Masters of Horror
- Tales from the Crypt
- Vampire High

I have a load of horror related TV Series!

As for Other... I usually save that for documentaries and shorts.  Like I have a documentary on some of the great actors of the classic horrors such as Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Jr. , Bella Lugosi... Peter Lorre... and so on. Then I have a couple DVDs of short horror stories such as Fangoria's Blood Drive (parts 1 and 2).

You better watch the rest of the 100 Years of Horror dvd this time
Horror isn't only vampire movie :tease:

Vampires, Werewolves & Zombies! (Oh my!)  :P

I do plan on watching several more of those documentaries in that set though!

Well, October is 744 hours long. So there's Pete's ultimate limit

Tom

Unless he starts to watch multiple movies in parallel

I'm pretty much immune to compulsive buying. I only buy DVDs if I want to watch them and if I'm able to do so within a short time frame after the purchase. Aside from a very small number of titles that are now OOP (I can count them on one hand) that has never caused me any regret.

Not me
I've so many movies that I've bought that I don't feel in the good mood for watching after receiving them. By exemple I've the Angel Guts boxset who was a costly purchase that I haven't watch after more than a year and many Code Red title that I've got even if I know that those movies are particullary bad and cheap.

I didn't even watch yet the Space 99 set that I've bought from Eric last year

Trust me - if you saw my unwatched list you would all feel better  :bag: :-[

My definition of unwatched may differ from others - I only call something watched when I have seen the purchased dvd. I do not include the many discs I own that I may have already seen on video, tv or cinema.

Lets just say that I have discs that have celebrated 10th birthdays alone  :bag:
