While watching the new Wonder Woman movie recently, I again became painfully aware, that there are not many movies with female superheroes as the central character.

We have:
- Supergirl (I liked Helen Slater in the role, but the movie is not that good)
- Catwoman (I have avoided to watch this travesty)
- Elektra
- Wonder Woman (animated)

Does anyone know of any other movies?

Of course there are also some movies with female superheroes in an ensemble cast:
- Fantastic Four 1+2
- X-Men 1-3
- Batman & Robin
- Watchmen
- The Incredibles

I can think of a couple TV Series... but no other movies pop into mind. Unless you want to include that comedy... My Super Ex-Girlfriend. But I think that is a bit different then what you are talking about.

I think that's it.  I know Barbarella is based on a French comic strip, but I don't think she has ever been considered a superhero.

A live action Wonder Woman is supposed to be in development, but who knows when it will be made, if ever.  I don't have a lot of hope for it to be that good given how the other female superhero movies have faired.  I know there are a lot of female superheros in comic books, though I don't think there are as many that have their own books..I think even in the comics, they are mostly just working with others, though I might be wrong about that.

The tv show Birds of Prey is good..at least I remembered enjoying it, though I've heard it is changed from the course material.

Tank Girl

If Jon's suggestion isn't bad enough

Dragonfire

Oh yes...I forgot about them...  :hysterical:
Haven't seen Tank Girl...saw bits of Barb Wire..not impressed at all.

I have to say I was impressed by Barb Wire's bits...

That is not what I meant :p

I saw like twenty or thirty minutes of the movie on tv once and wasn't impressed.  There :p  Though I doubt you are in the minority with being..impressed by those...bits.

How can one follow the suggestion of Barb Wire... Heck, I saw that in a theater  (on a film festival though, where I just watched anything they played). Wasn't Udo Kier in it, one of out few German exports (going purely by memory and no time to look up IMDb).

Anyway, while rather silly and not very good, it certainly fits the bill:

My super girlfriend (or so; the recent Ivan Reitman film)

lovemunkey187

Witchblade (tv series)
Stripperella (animated tv series)
Vampirella
Ghost World(? not sure if this meets your criteria, it's based on a comic and the mani two protaganists are female)

If we add TV series, we mustn't forget Xena and of course SMG's Buffy.
