Achim, just a reminder. Time is running out ;)

Achim

Well, it actually ran out here where I am already... :bag:

I'll have a sick day tomorrow (my cheeks still hurt after the wisdom teeth removal on Friday) and will watch the episode first thing in the morning. :tomato:

Change 10/10

I loved (as well) that  everyone knew that "difference of opinion" meant "Phantom Menace".

Touching moment of the week: Marsha helping Brian to get some inspiration again.

Sorry again for being late. :-[

Achim

Thought I could be early on the next one...

Mettle 9/10

I was really torn about that rating. While the episode was lacking on stand-out catchphrases a bit it had great film references (RoboCop, Grease and of course One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest taking over half the episode.

Brian's installation was a hoot.

A great episode. Only the battle robot plot I found a little silly.

Help: 10/10

Had a lot of fun with this episode. Three separate story lines (picture retrieval from Darkstar comics, competitive jogging and Brian's lunch with his mom) which were intercut quite nicely. Tyres was geat fun yet again.

Twist: Oh, and have sex! That's all you want to do, I'm not just here for one thing! Why can't you see me as a whole?
Brian: I do.
Twist: A whole Brian, with a 'w'!

BTW, looking up the above quote at IMDb (too lazy to listen again on the DVD) I noticed there is an entry "Spaced" 2008 (TV) as well. Some further investigation revealed at "Spaced Out", that there may be an Americanized version coming up at Fox next year. The quoted Variety article is here.

Brian's mother thinking he is a lawyer was fun. Also the messenger friend standing in the middle of the street because of the traffic light for the blind :)

Najemikon

I heard somewhere that Edgar Wright is far from impressed with the idea of an Americanised version. What's the point? ???

METTLE  9/10

I felt same as you, Tom. Great episode, but somehow the Robot Wars didn't quite gel for me. Brian's installation was a highlight for me. Hospital: A trendy bar owned by Damien Hirst!

HELP 10/10

Another class episode. The film references come thick and fast. I think both Cuckoo's Nest and Sixth Sense are amongst their best; especially Billy in the first (he parodied the original character perfectly when he gets dragged off) and did you spot Olivia Williams as the cyclist? "Alright!"

Your comment about Pelican crossings made me laugh, Tom! I wondered what you meant by "traffic light for the blind". I just take them so much for granted! ;D

Learned something new here: Didn't know you call them Pelican crossings :)
We also have pedestrian traffic lights with acoustic signal for the blind here in Germany.

Najemikon

I think the UK were first to have Zebra crossings and although they are known all over the world, we continued to use animal names for other types: Zebra, Pelican and now Puffin apparently! Even a Pegasus (for horse riders) but I haven't seen one myself. There was even one called a Panda years ago...

Is that where kathy crosses the street? :hysterical:
