ok, so he's late 50's and funny. Still working. Hmmm...   

I can't link in the free hint, but I keep thinking of Robin Williams. Almost 60, still working and most importantly, funny, which cuts out a lot. 

Edit: Just remembered. Obviously your hint was communicating with my sub-conscious! Mork was a spin-off from Happy Days, wasn't he? I knew that little fact from somewhere...
