DVD Empire
« on: September 04, 2008, 01:57:43 PM »
Last night I placed my first ever order with DVD Empire. Does anyone here use them at all? I must say... so far so good. Their prices on most releases is not as competitive... but they seem to have some decent prices for older and discount releases.

Last night I placed an order with them for...
- The Willies
- Shadow Zone: The Undead Express
- Skeleton Man

not too bad was only $5.10 each... and since I ordered 3 (or more) titles for this order... my standard shipping is free. First thing this morning I got confirmation that my order already shipped. So far very good... I am fairly impressed. Of course we have to see how long the package actually takes to get to me.

I don't see myself using them too often though as their prices on most titles can easily be gotten cheaper elsewhere... but seems like it could be a good alternative place.

Before switching to DeepDiscount(.com) I had been using DVD Empire for a long time. Very transparent system (they still have one of the best disc information early on; great for pre-release profiling ;)) and good service too, I thought. Never had reasons for complaints with them.

I can't comment about shipping times to you, as the packages travel significantly further to get to me :tease: However, with DVD Empire I usually used express service and the packages would get to Taiwan in 4 days or less! I later became a tad stingier and now mostly use regular shipping, which takes 7-15 days (I have enough unwatched stuff, I can wait). With DeepDiscount it's easy, they only do regular shipping internationally

One thing I just found that I like about DVD Empire... something Deep Discount don't do. I used standard (Free) shipping and I still got an email (some reason a separate email) with the confirmation/tracking number. That is something Deep Discount never does for free shipping!

Plus DVD Empire let me know where it is shipping from.It is coming from Pittsburgh, PA. That isn't too far from me here in Maryland.... so I am hoping to see it here in the next couple days. :) Maybe Monday at the latest (A guess of course).

Didn't realize you were in Maryland. Curious... you ever meet up with Skip?

There are some monsters in the States of Maryland. This is what I got with an image search

Not really a big menace, just don't go in the water

DVD Empire is one of my favorite sites for gathering pre-release info. I feel guilty for not buying from them enough since I use their site so much. But all of my actual purchasing experiences with them have been great.
