Well, I'm not quite set yet.  I still have to unbox the TV and connect it.  I only have 2 Blu-rays so I guess The Searchers will be the first I watch once the TV is up and running...

We played a double header of Hangman today... and I found out I am getting...

Ichi the Killer
Welcome to a world where violence is a virtue and depravity is a way of life. This is the underside of Shinjuku, and the home of Kakihara, a sadistic yakuza killer. He relentlessly tears apart the underworld searching for the man who killed his boss. The mastermind behind the plot is Jijii, an ex-cop bent on turning the gangsters of Japan against one another. His trump card is a physically powerful lunatic who is constantly on the verge of snapping. This madman is Ichi the Killer, and between him and Kakihara, the streets will run red with blood. Brought to you by Takashi Miike the director of "Audition" and "Visitor Q".
Ichi-1
Based on the original manga, ICHI-1 is the prequel to Takashi Miike's ICHI THE KILLER. Nao Omori (ICHI THE KILLER, PERFECT BLUE) stars as Shiro Ishi (the future Ichi) and Teah (CITY OF LOST SOULS, DEAD OR ALIVE 2) is Dai, the best fighter at the local high school. Whenever Dai gets into a fight, Ichi is voyeuristically watching nearby, enjoying the brutality. Dai confronts him but Ichi cannot tear himself away from the bloodshed. It is as though he feeds on the violence. Everywhere Ichi goes he is considered a weakling and is bullied, taunted and made fun of. Even the younger kids from his karate class show him no respect, but Ichi refuses to fight back.

However, on a fateful summer’s day, Ichi is pushed too far by a group of his fellow students. The rage inside him is finally unleashed and he flies into a violent fury. The maniacal psyche that dwells beneath the surface is revealed in all its horror and his tormentors pay the ultimate price. Back at school, Dai is confronted by Onizame, the new boy in town. Onizame is a Hapkido master and is out to relieve Dai of his “best fighter” status. In a ferocious display of fighting prowess, Onizame succeeds by severely beating Dai into submission. Word of Ichi’s slaughter of his tormentors soon spreads throughout the school and the stage is set. It’s time for a showdown. The best fighters in school versus Ichi the Killer. Who will survive the mayhem and become number 1?

...I never seen either of these before.

Well I just found out through a PM that another friend (at the other forum) is sending me a gift for this Holiday season! This one will be done a little differently as they do not celebrate Christmas... but something (Yule) that seems to be the celebration of the winter solstice. So she asked of me instead of opening it on Christmas morning to open it on December 21st. So I will have to keep that in mind. :)

Another PM from the friend sending me (and my daughter) a Yule gift (to be opened on the 21st)...

Quote
You know what's in Brittany's, and I won't ... exactly ... tell you what's in yours.  However, I will tell you that there is 1 complete TV series, 12 movies, and 3 collections of movies and/or shorts.

Woohoo! I love complete series collections! And then much more! I was actually expecting something like a single movie. But wow! sending me a lot!

Well... Today is the 21st... so it is time to open my gift. A nice collection of title... ones I never seen before. I think I only ever seen one or two out of the 20 movie set. The rest are totally new to me....

V for Vendetta
Who is the man who hides his scarred face behind a mask? Hero or madman? Liberator or oppressor? Who is V - and who will join him in his daring plot to destroy the totalitarian regime that dominates his nation?

From the creators of The Matrix trilogy comes V For Vendetta, an arresting and uncompromising vision of the future based on the powerfully subversive graphic novel. Natalie Portman stars as Evey, a working-class girl who must determine if her hero has become the very menace he's fighting against. Hugo Weaving plays V - a bold, charismatic freedom fighter driven to exact revenge on those who disfigured him. And Stephen Rea portrays the detective leading a desperate quest to capture V before he ignites a revolution. The stakes rise. The tension electrifies. The action explodes. Whose side are you on? In V's world, there is no middle ground.
The Devil Wears Prada
Based on the hilarious best-selling novel, this sinfully funny movie starring Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway is "sensationally entertaining in every way" ('MAXIM').

As assistant to impossibly demanding New York fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Streep), young Andy Sachs (Hathaway) has landed a job that "a million girls would die for." Unfortunately, her heaven-sent appointment as Miranda's personal whipping girl just might be the death of her!

Featuring stand-out performances by Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, plus a closetful of must-have DVD "accessories," 'THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA' is "a fresh, funny, fabulous masterpiece" (Liz Smith).
Breach
Inspired by the incredible true story of the greatest security breach in U.S. intelligence history, Breach is a spellbinding thriller starring Academy Award® winner* Chris Cooper, Ryan Phillippe, Academy Award® nominee** Laura Linney and Dennis Haysbert. Eric O'Neill (Phillippe) is assigned to work with renowned operative Robert Hanssen (Cooper), the sole subject of a long-term, top-secret investigation. Determined to draw this suspected double agent out of deep cover, O'Neill finds himself in a lethal game of spy vs. spy, where nothing is as it seems. Critics are hailing Breach as "electrifying" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) and "suspenseful" (Ty Burr, The Boston Globe).

*2002 Best Supporting Actor, Adaptation.
**2000 Best Actress, You Can Count on Me. 2004 Best Supporting Actress, Kinsey.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Toula is 30. And unmarried. Which means as a nice Greek girl -- she's a failure. All her cousins did the right thing -- married Greek boys and made Greek babies. So everyone worries: what will become of Toula?

Then one day she sees the ultimate unattainable guy and realizes the only way her life will get better is if she gets away from her big, fat Greek family. Toula escapes from the family restaurant. She exchanges her seating hostess jacket for a college diploma, convinces her aunt to give her a new job, and trades in her coke-bottle glasses for contact lenses, just in time for "him" to walk back into her life.

Ian Miller is tall, handsome, but definitely not Greek. Their courtship is an Olympian culture clash. Can Ian handle Toula, her parents, her aunts, uncles, cousins and several centuries of Greek heritage? Will Toula discover the love she's been missing right in the heart of her big, fat family?

One thing is for sure, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, with Ian's proposal, Toula is headed for her big, fat Greek wedding.
The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course
Steve Irwin makes his big-screen debut with his most perilous adventure yet! To save a very large crocodile from poachers, Steve and his wife Terri set out on a death-defying journey through the outback to nab the big fella and relocate him to a safe river. But what they don't know is that the angry reptile has swallowed a top-secret U.S. satellite beacon, making them 'all' targets of American special agents. Crikey!
Algiers
Pepe Le Moko (Charles Boyer), a thief who escaped from France with a fortune in jewels, has lived in the impenetrable Casbah (the "native quarter" of Algiers) for two years. A French official insists that he be captured, but sly Inspector Slimane knows he need only bide his time. The suave Pepe increasingly regards his stronghold as his prison, especially when he meets a beautiful Parisian visitor (Hedy Lamarr), who reminds him of the boulevards to which he cannot return.
The War of the Worlds
Laden with Academy Award®-winning special effects*, this chilling adaptation of H.G. Wells' frightening novel detailing a Martian invasion delivers fiery thrills, laser-hot action and unrelenting, edge-of-your-seat suspense. Gene Barry (TV's Bat Masterson) and Ann Robinson (TV's Fury) are among the humans intrigued when a meteor-like object crashes to Earth... but its occupants are definitely not friendly. The assault on Earth is underway, and the Martian machines – hovering "swan"-shaped vehicles of destruction – are both beautiful and terrifying as they cut a relentless path of annihilation. Produced by George Pal (When Worlds Collide) and directed by Byron Haskin (Treasure Island), The War Of The Worlds is widely regarded as one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time and received three Oscar® nominations*.

*Oscar® Winner, Best Special Effects, 1953. Additional Nominations: Best Film Editing; Best Sound Recording.
Ghost Town
A spirited romantic comedy, Ghost Town is the story of Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais), a cranky Manhattan dentist who develops the unwelcome ability to see dead people. Really annoying dead people. But, when a smooth-talking ghost (Greg Kinnear) traps Bertram into a romantic scheme involving his widow Gwen (Téa Leoni), they become entangled in a hilarious predicament between the now and the hereafter!
Grimm Love
Kate Armstrong (KERI RUSSELL), an American women studying criminal psychology, finds herself inexplicably drawn to a bizarre murder case for her thesis. She chooses to research the notorious German cannibal Oliver Hartwin and his dead lover Simon, who had allowed Oliver to murder and then devour him as the ultimate act of love and self-sacrifice. Katie soon becomes strangely obsessed with her subjects, and as she dives deeper into her research, she makes a horrifying discovery that will change the case – and Katie – forever.
An Everlasting Piece
From director Barry Levinson comes the hilarious and hair-raising new comedy about an unlikely pair of barbers (Barry McEvoy, Brian F. O'Byrne) who devise an outrageous plan to take over the toupee market. Leaving no rug unturned, they cut their competition down to size.

Irreverent, irrepressible and completely irresistible, 'An Everlasting Piece' is a head-over-heels charmer that the 'New York Post' describes as "The Full Monty meets the Three Stooges." Bristling with razor-sharp wit, this sheer delight puts an entirely new spin on world "piece."

In addition, my wife is giving me two of these.

Nice cabinet Hal. I take it you are satisfied with them since you have so many. I need something new for my DVDs. For now I'll be turning one of the closets in the new place into a DVD Storage room, but that's a temporary measure. I need to look for something more long term. The ones I have now are nice but not very practical as they are only about 42" high.

For Christmas my wife and I are getting all new living room and dining room furniture. We've sold just about everything we had. My TV is sitting on a folding table at the moment.  It's new home has been delivered though and is sitting all nice and neat in it's shipping crate waiting for the move. Here is what it looks like:

Everyone thinks we're crazy to just get rid of everything and start with all new stuff. Our furniture was pretty nice to begin with. Change is good though. It's also a lot of fun.  :thundergod:

Yes, I like them a lot.  They hold 504 DVDs but even more Blu rays since you can fit in one extra shelf if you segregate your DVDs and Blu rays like I do.  I like the fact that they have doors on them to help keep the dust down, and it kind of hides what's inside unless you get up close.  They just look like very nice book cases.  And they can go in a room with nice furniture and not look out of place.

I love your new TV stand.  Very nice.

Refurnishing is great when you move to a new house, and sometimes necessary.  Hope you have lots of fun with it!

Nice looking stand for the tv.

My grandfather sends me some money for Christmas every year and then I get myself something with it.  I am so close to ordering the first season of Doctor Who and considering a present from him.  I'm also contemplating adding season 2 as a present to myself.

I really want the Doctor Who sets.  A lot.

For some reason the new Doctor Who series are the most expensive DVD's... ON THE PLANET!

I was thinking of buying season 2 for a friend for Christmas but really the prices on those things are astronomical. I ended up just going for the boring option and getting her a voucher instead.

If you're buying any DVDs from an ABC shop expect to pay top dollar.
