I will do it
« on: September 19, 2010, 05:57:49 AM »
You know how I talked a lot about the format in the past (usually not in a good way), but I will get my first BR next year...

Ok it's a dvd/BR combo pack and I don't own a reader or an HD TV to see the difference, but it's a start.
See I ain't that against the new technologies
I just need something worthy of starting the process (since I will have to buy a reader in 2011)

Twins of Evil and Hands of the Ripper will be released also as combo pack next year by Synapse.

Edited because I can't buy a reader in 2001, that would make me way ahead of everybody technologically speaking

I got a few of the DVD/Blu-ray combos before I had a HDTV or Blu-ray player too.

It's good to get a head start with media before buying the player.

I just ordered my first BluRay  :bag:
And that for three reasons:
1: I'm building a new HTPC in January (which of course will be able to play BluRays) and need software for it
2: The DVD was only € 2 cheaper
3: The DVD doesn't come with the original aspect ratio

And it is ( :thundergod:)

The Bridge on the River Kwai

I think I could have done worse for my first Blu

As I have mentioned in one or two other threads, I am also going blu-ray...I am getting a blu-ray player some call a Playstation 3  :tease:  I don't know what my first blu-ray disc will be, though.  I've told my family they can get me blu-ray titles or PS3 games for Christmas and I won't buy my own until after then.  So we'll see what my family gets me.  I have put some blu-ray titles in my wish list at Amazon.com so I'll be ready to order some depending on what I get (or don't get) for Christmas.  Some of the titles I expect to get early are The Dark Knight, Superman (1978), and a couple John Wayne westerns (of course).

I've been finding myself buying a lot more Bluray and combo packs recently..think prices have came down quite a bit recently.
Congrats on deciding to take the plunge Jimmy  ;D

So it practically wasn't available on DVD at all

A few days ago, I placed a small order which included one DVD title and one Blu-ray title.  My first Blu-ray title is to be Lonesome Dove.  That is only costing me $6.99 (U.S.).  That got an excellent review the one site I checked.
