As they reach for the stars and follow their dreams, everyone learns about acceptance, teamwork and being yourself. And it's all set to fun tunes and very cool dance moves!

Featuring the hottest talent, 'High School Musical' celebrates the power of music in this hip, entertaining, gotta-get-up-and-dance movie. Own all the excitement and the exclusive extras available only on this Encore Edition DVD.

My Thoughts:
OK... anyone that knows me, knows I do not like music... so me watching such a movie is basically unheard of. But with my daughter spending the day with me today for Father's Day I promised her I would watch one of her movies with her. So I thought while I was at it I would also surprise the hell out of all my friends at dvdcollectorsonline.com and said yes when my daughter asked about watching this one. You all already know I hated all the music in this movie... so lets move on to the movie itself. Well... it is a good story. The acting could use some improvement. and some of the stuff beyond the music made me want to get a pair of ear plugs. But I as I said... the story itself was pretty good.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

I know it ;D
I'm still surprise that you had gave 2 and a half stars to this movie, since the story is quite predictable from the beginning (not mentionning that the songs are generic and crappy).

Now will you get the others two?

Brittany if you read this : You must persuade your father to buy and watch the 2 sequels :devil:

Holy cow...
The things you do for your daughter.  I even like musicals and I've avoided this one.

 :laugh: A bunch of comedians around here!  :P

@Jimmy...
Brittany said she is planning on it.

@Kathy...
WAKE UP!!!... YOU OK?  :P

@Marie...
I would do anything for her of course!

Yes the acting isn't the best... and the story is predictable. But it is a good message for the younger generation... so I gave it a 2.5... which to me is not good and not bad either. Just average.

Check the future "What you got" post from Pete to see Grease 2, Xanadu, a lots of 50's MGM musicals and of course High School Musical 2 and 3

If he could get past the singing, Sweeny Todd is wonderful...and the story is more horror.  Buckets of blood gushing.

And some people would argue it's not music but just noise accompanying the singing :devil:

I haven't seen and don't plan on it as I don't like musicals, but I will say that Sweeney Todd is a Sondheim musical and they are supposed to be more a tuneful dialogue than actual songs. So maybe Pete would enjoy it after all.

Go on, Pete! Give it a shot. I will if you will... :tease:

If you can look past the singing in High School Musical and enjoy it to some degree, than you can certainly do so with Sweeney Todd :P
