I have hopes that "Mercy" will accurately represent the nursing profession; from the bits I've seen this might be the first show to do so.

NBC has been advertising Mercy like crazy! I am looking forward to it. I am also looking forward to seeing Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) in a TV Series again.

I am also looking forward to Three Rivers where Alex O'Loughlin (Star of Moonlight) plays a doctor that specializes in transplant surgery.

Three Rivers
Mercy
Trauma
Private Practice
Grey's Anatomy
...and possibly some I don't know.

Why is there so many medical shows now, 3 new ones this years ?

I don't know Eric... but I am not complaining... as I found I been really enjoying them :)

I'm not complaining either....I'm just curious why it seems to be a new trend.  I know there's always been some but I don't remember so many different ones at the same time.  One could assume that they're trying to compete with Grey's Anatomy but if this was the case some of the new shows would be at the same time.

I usually wait until the fall preview TV guide comes out so I can get more of an idea what each show is like and see what the main casts for each show are.  Of course, I plan to watch certain shows and usually give up on new shows after a little while.  I have seen every season of The Biggest Loser but lately have been thinking of dropping that show since it seems there's always one or two contestants on it that are pure evil   If I add any new shows to my regular schedule, it might be sitcoms since I do like comedy...so I might wind up watching Jay Leno's new series, too.

I haven't figured out which new shows I want to check out this year yet.
I know I'll still be watching Big Bang Theory, Dollhouse, Simpsons...probably CSI.  Mercy might be ok.  I am kind of interested in giving Eastwick a chance..though I can't remember when it is supposed to be on.
And I want to watch V once it starts.

She was guest starring on Gossip Girl in seasons 1 and 2 and if the finale is to be understood correctly, she will become a recurring in season 3

I am planning on watching:

Heroes
V
Fast Forward
Lost (January)
24 (January)
Gossip Girl
Day One
House
Castle
Leverage (already running)
maybe Caprica (haven't watched the pilot yet)
Chuck
Dollhouse
Merlin
Smallville (yeah, I caved, the previews looked intruiging)
The Big Bang Theory

I won't watch - because
Supernatural - still 2 years behind
Two and a Half Men - one year behind
Bones - 3 years behind

Yes... Dollhouse is definitely on the schedule for season 2.... but it is on FOX and I have seen them change their mind shortly into the second season before (Tru Calling!  :redcard: ) so I am hoping for the best.

I am not sure how I missed it on the schedule... but I always watch The Big Bang Theory too.

The time slot for Big Bang Theory got changed recently...maybe in June.  It is now on at 9:30 on Monday, after Two and a Half Men.

I'll be watching Castle too.  I knew I was forgetting something.  Probably still am.  I started watching Castle when it started and I really enjoy the show.

Oh...Bones too more than likely.  Maybe Ghost Whisperer.

Well that sucks. I'm not really surprised given how FOX has treated other shows, but still...I'm ticked.

I've been thinking for a while that Whedon would be better off going to a cable network that would be willing to give the show time to fully develop.
Title: Re: My Planned Fall Schedule
Post by: addicted2dvd on November 12, 2009, 01:23:27 AM
yeah... I been pretty much expecting it since I first heard it would be on FOX... they don't know how to keep most good shows. I think the only one of theirs that lasted I really like is 24.
Title: Re: My Planned Fall Schedule
Post by: Dragonfire on November 12, 2009, 02:04:03 AM
I know what you mean.  Most good shows they end up with they treat horribly while they keep other crap on.  I've gotten tired of Family Guy and the other shows that guy has on...FOX is letting him take over.
It's a miracle The Simpsons ever made it past the first season.  It's probably a miracle that Bones has lasted too with how they have moved it around the schedule so much.  Last year Fringe was doing really good on Tuesday, so this year it gets moved to Thursdays and surprise surprise, the ratings have dropped.  Idiots.

It seems like the only show they care about now is Glee.  It's entertaining enough at times, but I don't love it and think it is a bit over hyped.

Bones is another one I really enjoy. So I am always expecting it to be canceled. Thankfully it is very popular. So we may be able to keep that one for a while.

I personally have no interest in watching Glee.

I'm beginning to get a real time-management problem. With all the old series awakening from hibernation and new mid-season shows starting I don't know if I can squeeze in anymore series.

And now James Marsters is joining Caprica (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/01/22/james-marsters-on-caprica/)

I think SGU will be the first to go and I'll watch 24 after the season has ended, but even then it's a tight schedule without much room for actual DVD watchings...

I don't know that I made a post about what I planned to watch but I did decide to try a few new shows.  Of course, I continued to watch How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory and I do stick with those.  The new shows I decided to watch included Accidentally On Purpose since I like Jenna Elfman and I've stuck with that though I've missed a few episodes due to fatigue following dialysis.  The new shows I decided to try out were ABC's Wednesday sitcoms...but I've pretty much dropped Hank (canceled), The Middle and Modern Family.  But i continue to watch Cougar Town though I've also missed a few episodes of that (again, due to fatigue following dialysis).  I don't now of any other new shows I've tried.

After watching the US channels for the past 2 weeks and seeing adverts for some shows, these are the ones I like the look of.

The Big C #
Undercovers *
Lonestar
My Generation
Nikita *
The Defenders (looks like it could fill the gap left by Boston Legal)
Blue Bloods
Covert Affairs *#
The Event
Boardwalk Empire
No Ordinary Family
$@!? My Dad Says
The Glades #
Outsourced
Terriers
Detroit 187

* = Not 100% that these'll make my must see list.
# = Have seen at least one episode and look really good.

Are there any familiar names in Hellcats?  I guess it's already on, right?  So it may be too late for me to tune in but if it had a favorite person, I might take a chance.  It also depends on when it's on and if it's on opposite something else I'm watching.

I used to have a friend named Eddie...he and I used to love getting the Fall Preview issue of TV Guide (back when it was digest-sized) and we'd get on the phone and go over it a lot (I live in West Virginia, he lived in California).  I don't get as excited these days but I'll still pick up that issue.  I don't watch nearly as much network TV as I used to...what I do watch are mostly sitcoms these days.  I may try adding some more and maybe go back to watching a few I quit on awhile back like The Middle and Modern Family...

The only two I recognized were Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica) and D.B. Woodside (24, Buffy).

Well, those names aren't that familiar to me.  So maybe I'll give it a pass.  I guess if I get a cheerleader desire going, I can pull out my copy of the original Bring It On...

I took the Fall Preview issue of TV Guide with me to dialysis yesterday and read up on all the new shows.  I'm not into crime shows or most dramas so you won't find much of that here but this is what I'll try checking out at least early on.  If I like the newer shows I'll continue to watch.  Some of these are older shows I haven't seen in awhile that I'll try to get back into...

Monday--How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement (never seen...doubt I'll continue watching it as I can't stand David Spade), Two and a Half Men, Mike & Molly

Tuesday--No Ordinary Family (hopefully a more lighthearted superhero series than Heroes was), Raising Hope

Wednesday--The Middle, Better With You, Modern Family, Cougar Town

Thursday--The Big Bang Theory (Kaley Cuoco broke her leg and will miss a few episodes), $#*! My Dad Says

Friday--Nothing looks interesting here.  Interestingly, the schedule they posted lists a new show on ABC that they didn't do a write up on...Secret Millionaire.  What's up with that?

Saturday--Nothing but that's not surprising...there hasn't been anything worth watching on Saturdays in years.

Sunday--America's Funniest Home Videos, The Simpsons (I watched one episode of The Simpsons months ago...my first in a couple years...and I thought it was awful.  I'll give it 3 episodes this time and if none of them are any better, I'll stop watching again)

I have yet to go through the line-up to see what all I will be watching. I already started recording Hellcats... which is OK... I will watch it as long as nothing else comes on at the same time that is better. And Nikita... which hasn't impressed me at all yet.

I am really looking forward to No Ordinary Family myself... it has Julie Benz in it... and I like her.

Here is a trailer for No Ordinary Family I found... think I will like it! :)

I caught the trailer on iTunes yesterday and thought it was promising. Kind of like a live-action The Incredibles, of sorts. I'd hope to hear some comments once it starts airing.

Not that I had watched it, but Lone Star was just axed after the second episode.

I never watched Lone Star either.... but that is way too quick. They didn't give it nearly enough time to find an audience. Googling Lone Star.... why am I not surprised it was on Fox?

Last night I watched No Ordinary Family... and I really enjoyed it. I liked how both parents found a friend to trust with what is happening to them. Though I do think the kids were a bit cheated when it came to the powers they got... especially the son. But we will see how it works out. I will definitely continue recording this show.

Yes, I like the adults' confidants...I especially like the woman who is the friend of the wife.  She's a bit scatterbrained but also kind of adorable.  I do wonder what good the boy would be in a super-hero fight.  Of course, I imagine we'll see him wind up doing things we haven't thought of yet.

btw: Human Target has just been moved back to November (due to the Lone Star thing). Instead the new season of Lie to Me will air in its slot.
