Weekend Movie Marathon
Unwatched DVDs
This weekend I decided to work on my out-of-control unwatched pile. As of now I have 978 movies in my unwatched pile. I don't know how many I will get watched this weekend... but I hope to get it at least under 970. I am also not sure what movies I will be watching... though at the time of making this thread I can say I feel like I am in the mood for some comedies.
Below is my HUGE list of unwatched movies. Just because the movie is in the list don't mean I never seen it. It only means I haven't watched it since getting the DVD. If there is a title that you would either like to recommend to me... or that you are curious about yourself... you can request a review. While I can't promise you that I will get to it this weekend as it will depend in my time as well as somewhat my mood. I will try to get to it.

I'm guessing you won't be hitting up horror for this, but in the way of comedies I would certainly go for Hot Fuzz. Also Made is a must-see. Judging from your previous reviews, I think you'll dig Without a Paddle also.
-
Thanks! And my number of Unwatched Movies just went up to 984! I will be posting what I just got shortly.
-
Star Wars IV: A New Hope
Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi

I know Tom! I keep saying I want to watch it with Brittany... but I guess I will have to say the heck with it... and watch it without here. :(

- Get Smart
- Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control

And director Peter Segal (The Longest Yard) guides his stars (including Dwayne Johnson and Alan Arkin) through dangerous realm of molar radios, multifunction pocketknives, exploding dental floss and more. My Thoughts:
Going by what I have always heard about this movie I really wasn't expecting much. But actually enjoyed it. There was a few things I found to be a bit too silly... but over-all I liked what they did here. It really has been a while since I saw the TV Series... so I can't really say how well it portrayed the series... but after watching this movie I feel like getting my hands on at least some of the episodes.

Stars:
Masi Oka as Bruce
Nate Torrence as Lloyd
Jayma Mays as Nina
Marika Dominczyk as Isabella
J.P. Manoux as Neil
Larry Miller as Underchief/CIA Chief
Plot:
Loved Get Smart? Get more! Get extra spy-spoof hilarity when Get Smart's bungling inventors Bruce (Masi Oka) and Lloyd (Nate Torrence) stumble into their own comedy adventure in a zany story paralleling Get Smart (and including surprise star cameos from that 2008 movie). The R&D smarties are out of the lab and way out of their comfort zones as they scramble to find a nifty new invention they've somehow lost – an invisibility cloak – before KAOS does. Of course, the whole invisibility thing really complicates matters. And learning on the fly how to be a spy is a big-time challenge for our heroes. Would you believe you'll have to watch to discover how they do it?

My Thoughts:
This one kinda flew in under the radar for me. I don't even remember hearing of it until I spotted it at Big Lots. I can't say exactly when this one came out... but it seems to be the same year as Get Smart. And it takes place at the same time as that movie does. Though Steve Carell don't appear as Maxwell Smart in this one. When I started this movie I was thinking it would be even funnier then Get Smart but shortly after it started it the laughs slowed down for me. Though I will say I still enjoyed it just as much as the other film. It is a fun companion piece. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoyed the first one.

Now, armed with only his modern-day street smarts, he must deal with damsels in distress, an evil king—and really bad plumbing. The knight life has never been more hilarious!

My Thoughts:
Bits and pieces of this one looked familiar so I think I may have seen this one a long time ago. At the very least caught part of it on cable. It is an entertaining film...I got a few laughs out of it. But at the same time I found it to be very predictable. But it is definitely worth the time put in to watch it.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie that was in one of the large packages I had sent to me. I never been a fan of Paris Hilton so my expectations going in was low. But at the same time I always liked Joel David Moore on Bones. The way the movie started out I really wasn't all that impressed. It made itself depended on stupid and gross-out humor. But then somewhere midway through it changed to more of the traditional romantic comedy. That is where I started to actually get into it... finding myself starting to enjoy it. Still not a great movie but went from something I didn't think I would be able to finish watching to something I found to be worth the time I was putting into it.

For me the funniest fact about this film is that it did only $27,696 in the US (it was a wide release on more than 100 screens)
This is certainly a flop record for a wide release (no I don't talk about independant movie shown on less than 10 screens)...
-
That really don't surprise me. I would be awful disappointed if I saw this one at the theater.... as much as that costs anymore. Luckily I got the DVD for free. :)

Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up, TV's Grey's Anatomy) lights up the screen in this charming romantic comedy from the screenwriter of The Devil Wears Prada. My Thoughts:
This film was in a box of DVDs that was recently given to me. Unfortunately it is the full screen version... but at least I am able to use it to see if I like the movie for a possible upgrade to the widescreen version. And I did like it... I liked it quite a bit. Of course that could have something to do with the fact that I am a fan of Katherine Heigl. I have enjoyed her work since she was in the TV Series Roswell. Then I also thought she was great in the series Grey's Anatomy. I would really like to see her get another TV Series. Yes... this movie is very predictable... but then what Romantic Comedy isn't? In my eyes romantic comedies isn't about the ending... but the journey leading up to it. And this one I found to be a lot of fun.
I have read other reviews for this movie... and for the most part they seem to agree that this one is nothing special... bordering on boring. Well, what can I say? This isn't the first time I seemed to be the only one to enjoy something a lot. But that does tell me to be cautious in recommending it. So I would have to tell people to try catching it on cable or something. Don't buy this movie on my review alone. But I do see myself upgrading it to widescreen if I get a chance.

Plot:

They say that opposites attract. Well, for slacker Ben (Seth Rogen) and career girl Alison (Katherine Heigl), that's certainly the case - at least for one intoxicated evening. Two months and several pregnancy tests later, Ben and Alison go through a hysterically funny, anxious and heartwarming courtship that leads to huge laughs in the most outrageous comedy of the year!

My Thoughts:
I decided to make it a Katherine Heigl double feature. This is another one I never seen before. And unfortunately it is once again a Full Screen version that was given to me. But that is OK... I can always upgrade. I enjoyed this one quite a bit as well. being slightly over 2 hours it is a bit longer then I was expecting. But it worked for me. It managed to keep my interest the entire time without any boredom what so ever. I was kind of surprised to see it show 2 or 3 shots of the baby crowning in the birth scene. I would imagine those clips is what was added to the Unrated edition. I definitely found it to be worth the time to watch it... hope to upgrade to the widescreen edition before too long.

My Thoughts:
I figured I would go from one expected baby movie to another. And yes... this is another DVD that was given to me. I never been a fan of Hugh Grant... so went into this one not expecting too much. And I didn't care much for him in this one either. But luckily for him... Tom Arnold is also in this movie. And I dislike him even more then Hugh Grant. Despite the two of them being in this movie... I enjoyed it quite a bit. It has lots of laughs in it. I especially liked Robin Williams in it as the doctor!

My Thoughts:
I really wasn't planning on watching any horror this weekend. But my brother got this disc through Netflix and I been wanting to see it. But when I saw that Lucy Hale is in it I really wanted to go ahead and watch it. I enjoyed this young actress when she co-starred in the 2007 version of the TV series The Bionic Woman. Where she played Jaime Sommers' little sister. This movie has several familiar faces from TV Shows. There is also (of course) Courteney Cox (Friends). Anna Paquin (True Blood), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) and Hayden Panettiere (Heroes). Though some of them have very short parts... talking just cameos here (promos for the Stab movies). This is of course just much more of what the previous movies have to offer. But I enjoyed it quite a bit... and look forward to adding it to my collection.

OK... this brings this weekend's movie marathon to an end. I had a lot of fun with this one. :)
-
Well this was real nice. I keep a desperate list of titles that I haven't watched yet. And I forgot to originally add The Hottie & The Nottie to that list. So between that and the movies I bought... I started this marathon with a list of 978 unwatched movies and ended this marathon with a lost of 978 unwatched movies! :bag:

Maybe your subconscious tried to erase all this experience from your memory

:bag: Well I am watching TV Shows for a bit now... but that number will go down next weekend. Not planning on buying any more movies anyway. :P

Unhuh....nothing wrong with watching the tv show sets. But just because you aren't planning to buy more doesn't mean some won't turn up....someone may send you another box ..or 2 of goodies.

 This is true. You never know. I know there is one package being worked on. But I haven't talked to her in a while to know much on that one.

So then your unwatched pile will be growing again then ;)
