This is a community marathon of the Canadian TV series "Due South".
The start is the television movie which lead to a TV series and thus became the pilot of the TV series.
This movie was included in the third season set of the Canadian release and is included in the first season of the US release.
Please give notice if you are planning to join this marathon. The complete series is available for $19.99 at Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017KP8Y0/ref=s9_simx_gw_s4_p74_t1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=1T19PBJ6A5XZX0R1EA66&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938131&pf_rd_i=507846).
We will hold off watching the first season until everyone who is interested joining in has their set at hand.
My plan is to have a rather slow pace. I propose a 3 or 4 episode per week pace. But if the majority wishes to go faster, we can adjust the pace.

I am glad you enjoy it! I am curious what episode it is that you didn't enjoy.
I don't have the DVD with me and I don't remember the episode name but it is the one where Fraser has to protect the 15 year old daughter of a Canadian diplomat. I was getting pissed that the girl kept doing the same stupid thing, running away, over and over and over again. She knew that she had killers after her but... I don't know why she aggravated me so much but she did.
I'm finishing up the second season and it really is getting even better. Everyone probably likes Benton Fraser best but Ray Vecchio is the man for me. He is incredibly funny and has made laugh out loud more than once.

Then you will probably get disappointed with season 3. The new Ray was hated at the time by a lot of fans. But I liked him and I thought he brought fresh air to the series.
Tom - thank you for introducing me to this series. I finished it up a couple of days ago and have been recommending to others. Although I did enjoy the last year it was not nearly as terrific as it was with David Marchiano. The only times I laughed out loud was when he was on screen. Once he left it was, for me, just a rather run of the mill cop story (although a good one). Of course it might also be that Paul Haggis left and it was his input that I miss. I think that if the original cast and crew had remained with the show it might have had a longer run. It was just missing that something special that would have kept the series going.
Chinatown
Some great interaction with Diefenbaker at the beginning and the end. It's a great relationship Fraser and his wolf have. The dog that plays the part is absolutely beautiful too. Very cool
I also like the way they outwitted the FBI on this. The eavesdropping, while a bit far fetched, was pretty funny.
This episode seemed a bit more serious that the others so far. I enjoyed it.

Heavan and Earth
I liked this episode. I like the guess star (Jonathan Banks). Used to enjoy him in Wiseguy. I didn't mind the Johnny Smith part of the story. It worked out well I thought.
I did want to see the FBI guy catch a bit more crap at the end. I thought they kinda dropped that too fast

Victoria's Secret - Part 1
From the very beginning you can tell this episode is going to be different. There was some comedy in it, the hat as Tom pointed out  I also got a chuckle at the vacuum and the TV Fraser borrowed, both were broken and HE had to fix them before he returned them  But it is for the most part all Drama.
I thought Ray acted kinda crappy when he came to Fraser's house to get the money, it did give them a chance for Fraser to leave the appartment giving "someone" the chance to shoot Diefenbaker :(
I guess it worked. It seemed a bit out of character to me though.
The story is pretty predictible but still enjoyable. Great ending. The next episode is beginning right now

Argh! I'm not watching this obviously, but just reading all the overviews so far, I find I'm worried about the bloody wolf! :o :fingerchew:
Don't worry, he'll survive :)
And yes, it was Victoria
2.07 Juliet is Bleeding (1996-02-01)
Writer: Paul Haggis (Created By), Kathy Slevin (Writer), Jeff King (Writer)
Director: George Bloomfield
Cast: Paul Gross (Constable Benton Fraser), David Marciano (Detective Ray Vecchio), Beau Starr (Lt. Harding Welsh), Daniel Kash (Detective Louis Gardino), Tony Craig (Detective Jack Huey), Catherine Bruhier (Elaine), Lee Purcell (Louise St. Laurent), Carrie-Anne Moss (Irene Zuko), Jim Bracchitta (Frank Zuko), Hannes Jaenicke (Michael), Sherry Miller (Commander Sherry O'Neil), Louis Di Bianco (Charlie), Pat Farenga (Pat), Falconer Abraham (Bomb Squad Leader), Joe Pingue (Jimmy Roastbeef), Harve Sokoloff (Zwick), Chelsi Smith (Wife #1), Shanna Moakler (Wife #2)
Too much tragedy at once for this series. I like that they let one of the main cast die
, but it then got too much about Ray and his love of this life (of which we never heard anything about before if I remember correctly). Although Carrie-Anne Moss did a good job.

Somehow my episode listing is screwed up. I'm missing Eggmen. I'll get it next as it's on the next disc (or I hope it is anyway  ).
The Edge
OK – perhaps I wasn’t paying attention but I have no idea what was going on for the 1st half of this episode. I guess it pulls itself together at the end.
Best thing about this episode is the scenes between Fraser and his boss.

Starman
Considering the guest star on this one I knew from the 1st scene I would enjoy this episode. Then, add the compulsive liar from the S1 episode “The Man Who Knew Too Little” (where Ray had to blow up his car  ) and you have what should be one of the best episodes yet!
Unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It was good, better than the last few have been. I just would have like to see the liar try to pull a few things over again, like the last time.
Of course there wasn’t anything close to enough air time for Amanda Tapping
Rating I still have to give it a though. Anything with Samantha Carter in it has to get a 5
Some Like it Red
And it’s back and 100% on form! The only thing missing in this episode was the wolf.
I knew I recognized the guest star on this but couldn’t think of where I knew her from. The was the wife/mom from the show Alien Nation. Guess I didn’t recognize her with hair!

That just does not fit in with the father being only in Fraser's mind.
Who said he is only in Fraser's mind? :P
There are other characters coming up who also can see him. As far as I remember two others.

I always liked this episode. Even though it is has a cliché of any long-running series: The appearance of a lost relative

Not as good as the first part. But nice that the series got the chance for a conclusion instead of just having it end. Although the fate of the characters may be unsatisfying for first time viewers I think, viewed as a resolution between the two Rays and Fraser it worked okay.
I always thought of having old Ray get together with Stella (the new Ray's ex-wife) is just a way to show that old Ray first took away new Ray's new life, but then switched and took his old life instead.
